david.atwell
Not quite. I remember my parents upgrading to 64 megs. That particular hard drive had a .9 GB capacity. No, not nine. Nine-tenths of a gig. And this was pre-modem. That's right, it didn't even have a 14.4 modem. EDIT: So, I suppose my anti-rant would be the progression of technology. Here's to having RAM over 4x as big as a 1994 (ish) hard drive. :-) Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Mike Ryan
David (first off it is nice to have a highly respected member of mine become a mod  ) upgrading to Vista is going to be a mistake. Anywho, I just got done with my meditation, thus I feal very relaxed and happy right now. (I am a Taoist living in the Christian belt of the USA, it is quite daunting )
david.atwell
Thank you for your kind words, and your advice. My current plan is to wait for Vista SP1 before upgrading. I figure that way, I can avoid most major problems. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. david.atwell
Driver issues are what I hear about most. Mike Ryan
lol that is why we use bricopacks Waiting till SP1 is not a bad idea at all, and that is when I plan on upgrading to be honest. But personally you have no idea how much I love WinFLP. It keeps me very happy.
Sozo
I have a Photoshop class this semester, and it's going to be taught in CS3. So I bought it. But I only had 512MB of RAM - CS3 requires at least 1GB. But I could either pay $50 for a 1GB stick, or $100 for a 4GB kit (two 2GB sticks). Since I plan to upgrade to Vista after this semester, I figured - the more RAM, the better. I can open all the active threads in the forum at the same time now, with very little lag. :-) I think Adobe Illustrator on Vista is going to be pretty good.EDIT: Oh, and hush. Yes, Photoshop. But my heart will always be with Paint.NET. So let me just quash the anti-Adobe sentiment right now. :-P I'm taking a CS2 class right now. What kind of ram do you have, DDR or DDR2? DDR2 is dirt cheap right now, I have 4 gigs of DDR2-800.
david.atwell
I have DDR2. But I have a laptop, so it's not exactly "dirt cheap." :-) 4GB, $100. When I first bought some for my desktop, the noname brands were $100 for 2 gigs, so the price has fallen by 50%. Works for me.
Panhead
Driver issues are what I hear about most. But it looks REALLY pretty. :-) yes it is pretty, but you wont get all the flash on a laptop unless it has a nice graphics card , but the diver is a big issue, i hate when i find something that isnt supported on Vista, although a lot of stuff is, i had a web cam that had no Vista driver, i bought a nice one though, on top of the fact i have Vista, its a 64x edition so its makes it a little harder >_< Quote My deviantART iGraphix ~96% of teens won't stand up for God. pyrochild
thats the Royal theme, thats the default theme, i like Vista's better 'tis not the default theme for XP unless you have Media Center. XP's default, Luna, is significantly less glassy and more plastic. Same colors though. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Mike Ryan
It is not the original. It is Luna in that screenshot. Royale is just a really glassy cleaned up version. and the Royale Noir theme under the Royale package is really nice looking. It is signed by Microsoft, but not included and has to be downloaded via a little google Pyro: I spent 5 minutes uploading a screen of my desktop only for you to beat me to the punch Edit: You dont have to have Media Centre edition.
