Blooper
I hope this hasn't been suggested already, I used search and I found nothing. I was making an animated cursor with lots of layers, and I wanted to know where the middle frame of the animation was. To do so, I had to number each layer. Fun! Wouldn't it be more practical if you could automatically number layers from top to bottom or from bottom to top? For another creation, I needed lots of the same layers, and I had to duplicate it again and again and again. Wouldn't it be much easier to right click a layer, click on "Auto multiplication" and choose the number of layers duplicates that I want? Would this be easy-ish to implement, or would it be a pain in the potato ( )? Bob
Unfortunately, the latter. It's a pain to implement. Quote No. Way. I've just seen Bob. And... *poof!*—just like that—he disappears into the mist again. ~Helio
Rick Brewster
Not exactly something that people would need outside of making animations. And Paint.NET isn't intended to be an animation editor. A lot of code and screen real estate would be required for a feature that will not benefit very many users. About the auto multiplication thing I agree with Rick, but as for the numbering the layers It would be a nice implementation even is the numbers were in the corner, a really simple numeration. Blooper
I understand about the layer multiplicator, but just a simple numbering would really help I think. I get lost after 30+ layers, especially if they're very similar. It's like trying to count how many wheat grains there are there are in a wheat field. Except it's much easier. Nonetheless, it's pretty hard and confusing. MattBlackLamb
Number / name them as you create them then... Mr Frojo
Number / name them as you create them then...Seems to make sense to me True, but it would be easier if it was automatic. Unless this is added sometime in the future, we'll just have to live with this. Its just a couple more seconds of our lives to name layers what we want them though. Quote I'm still alive! MattBlackLamb
It does mean that the layers are more easily rememberable (is that a word?) though. All you need to do is press F4 & then start typing... Quote dA Son, someday you will make a girl happy for a short period of time. Blooper
Well, it's easy that way, but when you start with an existing .pdn or something and you have lots of non-numbered layers, numbering them can be pretty confusing -- you get to the 30th layer to find out that you have two "3" layers and that you have to redo them all :x . I'm not sure numbering them would be that much of an annoyance.
