Have used : norton, mcafee, and a few other freebees. Currently I use Avast! it's a nice free program with (continuous updates) options to upgrade to their professional addition.

I used to use McAfee, and the thing Ironic about it is that 2005 (or whatever was before 2007) version is better than the 2007 version for a few reasons:

-2007 has longer boot times than the 2005

-2007 version is impossible to disable w/o uninstalling.

-It is bloated, I mean it has track cleaner.

So in short I switched to AVG and found it much more trouble free, and since switching have not been infected w/ a virus.

As for other AVs, I heard that Norton is a real resource hog and can make boot much longer

And I also heard NOD32 was really good(maybe better than AVG free) although, not free.

Heck yeah Norton's a resource hog; it upped my boot time by 30 seconds!

I need to get rid of Norton and half of my processes. It takes me around about one and a half minutes for the computer to fully boot up from logging on.

Its all about Kapersky Anti Virus. Nothing better than "Made In Russia!"

Holla! yeah, in a test conducted by some web group, they found that kaspersky came out on top with blocking over 96% of 14000 viruses

I, unfortunately use Norton, because Dad worships it. He thinks it's the best thing since bread in general, but I now it's slow, un-neccesarily complicated and clunky...

If you have money get Nod32 it's way better. We used use Norton but it didn't do we wanted so we got rid of it.

I can't say I've heard of it... It sounds good but is too expensive...

Yes it is very expensive :D you can get a 30 day trial. You may even find one on your first virus search with it.
