harin75 0
I was trying to import an image into Paint.Net and Kaspersky (version 7) Internet Security gave a warning that the program was behaving like Trojan. Cryptor. I added Paint. Net to the 'trusted zone' to stop this warning. Is this a bug? Or do you have spyware in the program? Maybe it is a bug in the Kaspersky program ? spike 121 0
... i dont really use programs like that, but PdN is certainly not a Trojan, otherwise, we all would be dead... or out a computer probably just a bug in the program Quote "No. Dreaming is illegal."~Pyrochild
Sozo 22
Quite possibly a bug in Kapersky; are you using Vista? Quote Placeholder, new signature under construction.
harin75 0
Kaspersky thinks it is a keylogger; if I turn off the alert for keyloggers the problem goes away. I am using WINXP.
Sozo 22
I know Vista's had trouble with false alarms for Antivirus programs, but I can't tell you why XP would think PDN is a keylogger. Yata 0
I have Norton and it says PdN is fine. If Norton gives it the ok, I give it the ok. Rick would never do anything of the sort. Rick Brewster 1,754
If I were stupid enough to put out a Paint.NET release that had a virus, I'm sure I'd instantly get thousands of e-mails from people after using the built-in updater. Not to mention there'd be lots of blog posts about it, etc. *checks inbox* Nope, just the regular level of e-mail today. Sometimes "security software" can get a bit over ambitious and will flag things that either don't need to be flagged, or it will flag a subset of activity that known malware does use but that is otherwise fine. That's probably what happened here. Either that or you downloaded Paint.NET from some place that added a virus to the installer. I don't have any examples of this -- to be safe, just get it from http://www.getpaint.net . For instance, in Paint.NET v2.5 I had to make a change in the installer because a lot of security software was preventing me from using a system component that some malicious VBScripts were using. The component wasn't malicious, but some software that used it was. I disagree with doing this and think it doesn't add anything to the security of a system. Rick Brewster 1,754
A bit touchy aren't we. It was purely good natured teasing, no insult intended. Then please put a smiley in there or something. It sounded like you were saying I put a virus in Paint.NET in order to make money. This is not something to joke around about. Sozo 22
Sorry, I have a rather dry sense of humor; putting a smiley in doesn't occur to me naturally. Next time I'll communicate better. Quote Placeholder, new signature under construction.

david.atwell 290
@Yata - you laugh a lot. It makes me smile. :-) EDIT: Right, the point. I was going to say, Symantec has been fine with PdN the entire time I've used it. As Rick said, make sure you're downloading from getpaint.net.
