Paint_boy
Hello and welcome to the "What Operating System do you prefer" thread. It's simple all you do is click on the Operating System you prefer, and click submit. You can leave a post explaining why you prefer the operating system. Simple isn't it? You can also post what OS you do have. Now post away!

usedHONDA
^^Well actually, you can.^^ I used to have a Mac, I've had 3 XP computers, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, 2 editions of Linux Ubuntu, and have tried Vista at a friend's house. I vote Ubuntu because it's a combination of Mac and Windows, and it's free. BTW, you shouldn't have put Leopard there as it has not been released. I didn't know Linux is free... I'll try to try it if I don't get in trouble. I heard it's great. I wish I could edit polls... drakaan
Yay Vista fans! Do you know how I stop the title bar from turning completely black when windows are maximized? It's so annoying :x Yup. Install Windows XP. If I had a nice, new, excessively speedy PC, I'd probably vote for Vista, but since I don't (just recently *upgraded* to a Dell Dimension 2300 with barely enough memory and integrated video), XP works best for me. I did (at work) have a nicer Dell Precision workstation that I ran the Vista betas and release candidates (and SuSE linux and Ubuntu 6.06 with compiz and beryl desktop effects) on, but sadly, not now . EvilNeko
Windows XP with my tweaks for the win. Got Samurize, Windows Blinds, WinAmp, and a lot of other fun toys. Edit: Then again my comp is built for the tuff. Dell 2002 factory model with a few extra in it. 19" screen LCD, Redeon 9800 XT graphics card(MKT's 3D plugin flies with the thing, its made for 3D), and a second HDD to add to the tiny 80 GB that it started with. Kinda fun but really basic to screw with. ~EvilNeko

mastermind7373
Linux, I use Debian. 18722 packages of free software (around 10000 programs), I use Beryl for mac and vista interface (whichever I want or I can comeup with my own.) I dual boot with Windows XP. Linux has a better 3D rendering engine than Windows(xgl, aiglx, nvidiadriver). It works much smoother than windows and can recover from a crashor other similar event better than windows. I played planet penguin racer on bothand here was the results: Windows XP with Nvidia driver: 640x480 32bit 15 fps Debian Linux with Nvidia driver: 1280x1024 32bit 30fps Big difference. I just like Linux all around, and you can't beat this, IT IS FREE!

Rick Brewster
... Redeon 9800 XT graphics card(MKT's 3D plugin flies with the thing, its made for 3D) ... You do realize that his plugin uses software rendering, right? Video card doesn't really affect it at all. mastermind7373
I agree. My dad has integrated graphics and the rendering is almost instant. It doesn't have a lot to do, no ray tracing, mipmapping, complicated stuff like that. maybe antialiasing but that is on quite a few plugins and slows them down also. Paint_boy
Yay Vista fans! Do you know how I stop the title bar from turning completely black when windows are maximized? It's so annoying :x Yup. Install Windows XP. Yeah right. Whenever I install a new OS I have to restart with everything, and install a bunch of drivers then download my Spyware... protection virus protection it's a pain in the esophagus. Anyways all I have to do is not maximize the windows Then everything stays transparent and blue / green glowish color
spike 121
you could just make it so it fills the window, but isnt maximized Quote  "No. Dreaming is illegal."~Pyrochild
jake2k
win xp for me, easy to use, not too bad on the eyes (plus you can always just get windowsblinds), and you don't need a super computer to run it I've got Ubuntu running on another really old computer (I found it on the sidewalk and did a little work to it lol) and it seems like it would be nice but I really didnt get long to experiment with it.
