Who has a Zune?

Recommended Posts

iPod is sleak and awesome looking, Zune is bulky and ugly. and why would you want radio if you have a mp3 player? just download the songs you want. Windows media player is the worst media player ever. iTunes is much, much better. Who cares about custom backgrounds? Do you stare at the background while listening to music or watch movies? No. iPod weighs less, is smaller, a replaceable battery, and who cares about wi-fi when the songs you get over wi-fi you can only listen to three time in three days?

I have a Zune and I am quite interested as too who has one as well... I also have an Ipod abut i think theZune is better than the Ipod...

Tiller, how about you edit this thread to iPod VS Zune make a poll see which one wins. :)

Does the Ipod have a Radio? NO

Can you make a custom background on the Ipod? NO

Do the songs feature free album art? NO

Does Itunes offer you points like Zune Marketplace does to buy music? NO

Is the IPod sturdy in Construction? NO

Does the Ipod have Wi Fi? No

Is the Ipod Video a first Gen player? NO

Zune is a first gen player yet it has more features than the Ipod and for slightly more than 50 dollars. Also the Zune can do all the things list ed above and the Ipod cannot. So overall the Zune is the better player. If the Ipod video 80 GB were both 6th Gen the Zune would be far more superior.....

Do I care about any of that? NO

And anyways you can do like 4 or 5 of those things.

If he doesn't make a Poll like a said I'll do it myself... then I'll PM him the results.

First you say that you dan't care for any of those things, and then you say that the Ipod could do 4 or 5 of them. Consequently a question arises why do you like the Ipod if you don't care for the features that it has? So what you did ewas that you contradicted yourself... Based off statistics the Zune is becoming moore popular and in 6 months is bound to come close to achieving the sales of the Ipod while in another 3 months possibly surpass it...

First off I would like to say that I never meant this thread to be a Ipod vs Zune and I only asked out of curiosity bue to the fact that I recently got a Halo Zune... As a result of the Zune being the first MP3 player that has Wi Fi, Microsoft decided to offer a minimal amoun of features... But Apple on the other hand is going to attempt to copy theZune in the next Ipod, the Wi Fi in the next Ipod is going to be worse than the Zune and the next Zune is coming ouat Christmas with all of the features (and more) that are slated for the next Ipod....

If none of you have a Zune how could you say if it's good or bad? I have an Ipod and a Zune so after comparing them I can say. If you do not own a Zune jthen you could not judge it off of other peoples opinions that are most of the time biased.

You can also buy an AV out cable and hook it up to your TV and watch videos from the Zune in high resoulution that look better than the Ipod....

*throws in two cents*

I hate the iPod. As irrational and unfounded as my hate is, I hate it. I've never been an Apple fan, so that may have something to do with it. I have had the chance to use one, though.

The truth is, the iPod is a generally well-made, good looking, fully featured MP3 player, and is commonly seen as the player that popularized the market, probably thanks to Apple's ingenious marketing team who made schmancy commercials that screamed at impressionable children: "You're a hair on the butt of a nobody if you don't have an iPod!"

I hate Microsoft. As irrational as my hating an entire company for their years of abusing the internet with a mere two (three, if you count the web authoring "ability" of Word) of their programs is, I hate them. I wish to give Microsoft as little money as possible, and so I use free software such as OpenOffice as replacements for the overly-priced MS alternatives.

The truth is, I've never used a Zune, so I cannot comment on it's usability as an MP3 player. It does look rather nice, and the screen and menu layout looks very professional and classy, far more so than the iPod, but that's just from still images I've seen. The Zune does have a much less appealing name...

I love music. This is rational, acceptable, and good, and is a view shared by many others. Whatever device the peoples want to use to get their music from their storage medium to their ear-holes, by all means use it.

I currently have a Sandisk Sansa e250, which is actually a very impressive little player. The only downfall is every accessory to help my MP3 player thrive in car-bound commute is made for the "popular" one, so I'm pulling my hair out just to get an FM transmitter at a decent price. When I look to upgrade to a player with a larger capacity, I will first be looking at Creative, firstly because I've heard good things about them, mostly because it's not Apple or Microsoft.

If it came down to it, I'd get an iPod over a Zune. Reason: The iPod syncs with iTunes. The Zune syncs with WiMP. iTunes > WiMP. iTunes > Babya PhotoWorkshop > WiMP... <_<

cant say where you heard this, but seeing as the ipod gets about a million sales a week, and the zune has only got 1.2 million sales in its life time, i wouldn't count on that happening anytime soon

btw, dont ever think statistics are true

personally, i would rather the ipod not have wi-fi, it kills battery life

lol, i returned my zune it was so bad

I've had a Creative MP3 player for about a year & in that time I've had to replace the HDD twice. The Creative help & support forums are full of angry people who have broken Creative products & very few people that know how to fix these problems. If my current MP3 player (Creative Zen Xtra 40GB) breaks again I won't be forking out another 40 - 50 pounds for another HDD, I'll get a new one from someone else (iRiver, Rio, Sony). Like Dan I'm not a major fan of Apple or Micro$oft they're much of a muchness in my mind.

Dan, it's not Apple vs Microsoft.

It's Janus vs FairPlay.

I own a V100 and am happy with it, but my sister got a Zen V for Christmas and it's a pain to tranfer music you need to install bloody potato software and such. I'm so used to MTP...

@Matt:

Well, I'll obviously have to do a little more checking before I drop some cash in Creatives park... The Vision M / W look so pretty, though...

@Bob:

I have never purchased a song online. I purchase CDs online, then rip the tracks to my computer, sans DRM.

With my current player, I use MSC because it has a MicroSD expansion chip that unfortunately does not function in MTP mode. That, and so I don't have to use Windows Media Player any more than I have to.

For my MP3 player all I had to do was install a driver & now it works with like a removable storage device.

Dan, there are better players out there for the same money as Creative ones, I would really not recommend getting a creative MP3 player. When mine went wrong for the 1st time they were going to charge me what I paid for it in the first place to repair it (I didn't have a warranty as I got it on ebay), I thought this was a bit steep so looked for alternative methods & ended up replacing the HDD.

I went to the EMP in Seattle and they had Zune's there. The site I showed you was bogus. The picture quality was great, it supported wide screen view (I don't think you can switch between normal and wide screen freely though?) Zune has an alright design. I still think the iPod is better though.
