FrEaK
I have an interview tomorrow and I am honestly going to say I don't know what to wear. It isn't anything special, its for a pet supplies place and I was thinking of going with a white t-shirt with a black shirt over top of that, with some dark jeans. But then my mind said no, you have to go with a pair of khakis and a polo shirt. Discuss Quote Site: RIP =(
usedHONDA
I've always had a single consistent style*. A shirt and jeans. It may sound ordinary, but my shirsts are different. They never have anything on it and they're slightly unusual colors (light aqua-blue, dark brown, charcoal, bright orange, etc.). *Though I wouldn't wear it every day of my life Quote "The greatest thing about the Internet is that you can write anything you want and give it a false source." ~Ezra Pound twtr | dA | tmblr | yt | fb

stefTACULAR
First impressions are everything, and interviews should show that you can be professional. I'd say the khakis and a polo shirt.
Yata
khakis and a polo shirt is what I have to wear when I volunteer, so I would say you should. Crazy Man Dan
It all depends on the usual level of dress where you're interviewing. I've worn a suit to interviews for jobs I didn't get... At the interview for my current place of employ, I forgot ask what was the usual dress. The business was relatively small, and the boss was laid-back, so I figured khakis and a polo shirt would be fine. I got there, and the boss was wearing jean shorts and a t-shirt. I like working here. oma
well I've done a lot of hiring in my day and I vote kahki's and nice CLEAN top shirt or tee or polo no problem but make sure your mom or YOU! take time to press them kahki's crisp neat crease down the front. undo the top button only on polo's and shirts don't show too much skin! and above all be self assured but not to the point you sound like you know it all. a yes please and thank you mam or sir won't go amiss. practice a firm handshake and a polite nice smile you'll do fine I'm sure. If this job doesn't pan out don't worry there are many others out there but you know what Jake I'll miss you on the board because you'll be working all the time fingers crossed xx Quote My Deviant Art Gallery Oma's Paint.Net gallery
Stephan
Some polo's do have the nice benefit of having a small pocket, which is perfectly suitable for storing a letteropener.
jake2k
but you know what Jake I'll miss you on the board because you'll be working all the time fingers crossed xx me? o_O lol Since it's a retail then don't go with jeans and answer all there questions how you think they would want them to be answered, i've been to many interviews and i've tried diff. things out and one of the things that never seems to work is to be completly honest. If you can't tell I HATE retail, and im sooo happy I found something else, it's ok for your first job but once you get into your third year it starts to wear you down. I can tell you one thing oncec you start working retail you start to realize just how stupid most people are lmao, goos luck man! Sozo
But not too overdressed. If you dress too well, say, a lot better than the person interviewing you, then they may get the impression that you are a snob, and you will have that working against you during the interview. MischiefKnight
Wear a concert tuxedo, the one with the double tails, and if you know how to play the piano then you might impress the one interviewing you even more. Are you nuts? I'm an a$$! but the guy interviewing me doesn't know that I've decided to go with khakis & a shirt (not a polo, but a short sleeve button up (it is summer)) thanks for the advice everyone, now I just gotta find a pair of khakis that don't look like <No cursing.> on me lol. Wear a concert tuxedo, the one with the double tails, and if you know how to play the piano then you might impress the one interviewing you even more. I'm sure that would work great, if I was going for a job as a pianist or conductor. FrEaK, it is always better to be over dressed than under dressed. so you'd rather me dress in a tuxedo that a pair of jeans and a nice shirt? lol. It's not exactly for a retail position, though I will be dealing with stupid people the job is generally stocking shelves and receiving shipments of the products. I like laid-back people.
