dawn
Okay, so at the bottom of this forum for at least a couple days now there's been a link to Live Search Club. For those who haven't clicked, it's a puzzle game site connected to Microsoft that purportedly gives out free stuff for earning "tickets" you win by playing games. I've already earned enough for the sport earbuds and sent away for them, but the site says to allow six to eight weeks for delivery so I can't confirm yet if it's legit or not. I was wondering if any of you have actually received anything from there yet. (I'm guessing yes since it's being advertised here.) And a follow-up question: has anyone else got locked out of Chicktionary? It says I've solved all the puzzles and to wait a while for them to get new puzzles up, but it's been a couple days and still no luck. And it's my favorite game, too. (On other forums people have reported getting back in within a day or two, so I want to know if what I'm experiencing is an isolated problem or something more widespread -- like a policy or code change.) Okay, think that's it. So are any of you playing these games (and winning) too?
BuzzKill
I just noticed the ad this morning and I have spent about 4 hours playing (Flex) and I now have enough for the Vista Ultimate prize. Am I going to take it?... I think not... but I do have my eye on that Zune. The XBox looks nice but after all the reports of hardware failures in it I think I'll pass on that one as well since they do not provide any kind of warranty with thier prizes. Bummer. EDIT: It would seem I made a mistake in my math... make that 6 hours. Quote - DO NOT contact me asking for the .pdn of my avatar or the PDN logo. Thank you. Have a nice day. PineappleQc
Hmm sounds fishy to me... For what I know, nothing's given away for free on the internet... I havn't played yet, but I doubt this will ever lead anywhere. If you guys ever get anything, tell me! PineappleQc
4. How to Receive Tickets and RewardsUpon successfully completing an Activity, a Participant must follow the directions provided on the Site to claim his/her Tickets and Rewards. If there are a limited number of Tickets or Rewards, those will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Unused Tickets will expire if the Participant does not participate in an Activity while signed in with his/her Windows Live ID for a period of one hundred and eighty (180) days. Microsoft reserves the right to require Participants to execute an affidavit, release of liability, publicity release and other documents as a condition to receiving a Reward. Additional terms and conditions may apply. Tickets and Rewards are provided "as is" with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Microsoft. All Ticket and Reward details are at Microsoft's sole discretion. Recipients cannot transfer, substitute or redeem Tickets or Rewards for cash, and Tickets and Rewards have no cash value. Once ordered by the Participant, Rewards cannot be cancelled or returned for a refund of Tickets. Microsoft reserves the right to substitute a Ticket or Reward of comparable value, at its sole discretion. Participants are responsible for all federal, state and local taxes as well as any other costs or expenses associated with Reward acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. Microsoft reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of Participants and to provide Tickets and Rewards in the name of a Participant's parent or legal guardian if the Participant is a minor in her or her primary state of residence. Participant must be in compliance with the Terms, as determined by Microsoft, to receive a Ticket or Reward. Rewards will be mailed to the U.S. mailing address provided at time of registration or, if applicable, the e-mail address provided at time of registration. No Rewards will be shipped to destinations outside the United States. Rewards will be delivered within approximately 8 weeks from the date redemption request is fully processed, unless otherwise stated on the Site. Releasees (as defined below) shall not be liable for any damages, losses or delays in connection with any shipments to Participants. Tickets or Rewards that are undeliverable will not be resent and shall be deemed forfeited. I'm outside US, count me out. Also it says at the top that if there isn't enough prizes it will be given first come first served basis, so perhaps it would be useful to check how much exactly they are giving away, unless there's a couple thousand Xbox I doubt you'll come in time for anything, I'm quite sure everyone that gets anything will keep on accumulating always and always for more Xboxs! BuzzKill
Who said anything about "free"? Everytime you enter an answer in a puzzle Live Search does... well, a search on it. That's a lot of generated traffic. I'm also assuming there will be shipping and processing charges that I will have to fork up along with any applicable taxes... Mostly all the prizes including all the high-end prizes are Microsoft products so it's not like they're losing anything... and yes, since they are Microsoft products I'll bet they have plenty to around... Yes, I have read the T&C. I wouldn't be playing if I had not... Quote - DO NOT contact me asking for the .pdn of my avatar or the PDN logo. Thank you. Have a nice day. dawn
I'm also assuming there will be shipping and processing charges that I will have to fork up along with any applicable taxes... There was no S&H or tax associated with my earbud prize, but then again, that's a lot less expensive than an XBox or Zune, I'm assuming. My sense is that they don't charge you S&H though. So no one mentioned any problems with Chicktionary, eh? Is it just me then? BTW, BuzzKill, how did you rack up so many tickets so fast? Are you using some kind of cheat/mod/workaround? uncle jordan
Yeah, I have done this. I am at about 9,636 tickets. It has to be legit. It does use the .Net passport, and only official Microsoft websites use it to login. I did make a thread over on Xbox.com, it got locked, but I am still 99% sure this is a true, legit website. Ash
I don't know about this one, but I did get Vista business for free a while back from MS. Just needed to watch a few web clips. dawn
Well, yesterday I finally hit 20,000 and ordered a Zune. I'll let you know if it ever comes or not. (ETA is sometime in September.) Btw, in case you didn't know, they've removed Vista from the list of eligible prizes. Seems they finally caught on to the people ordering 10+ Vistas and decided to remove them for everybody. :x *impotent rage*

moc426
I played for a few days and only have 595 points. You haven't slept! What gives the most points?
dawn
I maxed out Chicktionary in the first couple hours, then moved on to Flexicon. That took a while to max out... I dunno, at least two or three days. Finished up with Seekadoo and Crosswire, which I maxed out yesterday. I played Elvis=Lives a couple times, but the 4 ticket payout just isn't worth it. I'm not gonna lie, it took a helluva long time. (I play mainly at night, I'm a bit of an insomniac and I played at least until dawn a couple nights last week.) pyrochild
I "ran out of puzzles" in Chiktionary as well. Shame too, 'cause I wrote a little program in C# that auto-solves them. I don't think I can do that with any of the others. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! dawn
They enabled caps on pretty much all of the games to stop bot-tage. Chicktionary is set at 1000, Flexicon at around 9000; not sure about the others. You can check out the leaderboard to get an idea of the limits. hannahsmom
It's totally legit. I traded in tickets for a wireless controller compatible with the 360 and windows vista. It came literally two days after they said it would be 6-8 weeks. It was Fed-Exed.
uncle jordan
I know of a certain macro, bot, on 110mb(?), but I don't think it is legal, or wise to post it, maybe find it yourself. I don't personally use it, I just read it on the Xbox forums. I saw a vid of it working, it's a cheap way of doing it though. I'm editing a lot to day. Good to know some people got their prizes. uncle jordan
I ordered my Zune about a week ago. Do you all know what color they give out, is it random? I really want a black one, I just don't want to end up with a pink one. Also could I order a Zune leather case, a tote bag and PGR3 on a different account, but to the same address?
