careytilden
Hi, I really like this program. It has a nice balance between simplicity and power. There's one feature I really miss, though, and that's Unsharp mask. I think this tool is a great way to enhance the look of a photo, and I miss it sorely in Paint.net. Of course, there's always the possibility that it's in there somewhere I couldn't find; if so, I'd gladly eat crow. But if not, I would be very grateful for its addition. =) FYI, here's a good explanation of how it works. Thanks, Carey
Rick Brewster
We actually use unsharp mask, but with a simpler user interface that what is described that that URL. Ours is based on the discussion presented here, http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fet ... _id=000Qi5 You can look in the source code, in src/Effects/SharpenEffect.cs, for more detailed information. There's nothing stopping someone from implementing a more tunable "Unsharp Mask" effect plugin. We just chose our implementation and UI for its simplicity. careytilden
Oh, so the standard sharpen effect actually uses unsharp mask? I guess I should have thought to try that. Thanks for the quick reply!
