Yata
Ah ha! I found a good arguement: Is it not true that the forum is the central platform of user feedback for Rick? Even your 'fighting club' is hosted on this forum and it is a pivetal tool for Rick to aid in testing, design, and functionality. By creating a more stable platform of user feedback-a forum on the getpaint.net server-he would also benefit, leading to a better Paint.NET. I just said that Quote "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former" [ dA Paint.NET Chat :: Yata on dA ]
david.atwell
Um, guys, I think you're forgetting something. If I'm not mistaken, the first person to have said anything about hosting a forum at http://www.getpaint.net/forum was Rick Brewster himself... Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Simon Brown
BB:PdN is supported by the forum community. All-in-all, it would take 5-10 minutes to install the software and ~1 hour to configure the settings. Wouldn't a more stable (and more modular) forum to support the program be better than a free host who isn't exactly reliable? Like we have discussed - we are desperate to keep the posts. Although I still have an idea of agreeing to still host their ads on the new forum if they supply a copy of the database.
david.atwell
I don't know about "desperate..." I mean, it would be preferred, sure, but I don't think we're desperate for anything. :-) Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Yata
The entire statement. What does deleting anything have to do with crawlers? david.atwell
Honestly, you're not making any sense. Start back at the beginning. pyrochild
Yes. As david.atwell, so rightly put it, crawl back into your mother's womb and start over. Tight fit? :? Awkward journey... What is with your obsessions with deleting files, sabrown? A spider/webcrawler only reads what's there. Why would it delete anything? It would simply need to iterate through each page of the forum and build its own database from that. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Simon Brown
It wouldn't. But if it is a lesser post I presumed it would delete it rather than duplicate and thus spread it.
