It appears that a certain commercial image editor will be updated to use the Paint.NET G'MIC executable because the G'MIC authors are no longer distributing compiled versions of the G'MIC-Qt  standalone app on Windows.

I tried to tell one of the developers of that program that I will be changing how Paint.NET communicates with the G'MIC executable in a future version.

But it appears that they think it is easier to use my Paint.NET executable than to do the correct thing and build the standalone version from source. 😕

The small increase in performance you get coding in C++ over C# is hardly enough to offset the headache of coding in the C++ language. ~BoltBait

I don't know exactly what that means :arrow-up: @null54, but it doesn't sound good.

Will this affect your plugin?  :|

The Paint.NET version of G'MIC-Qt is not intended for use by other applications, so if another application is using it I will not let that stop me from making any changes.

I am currently investigating how to make the Apply button work like in GIMP or Krita, where it shows a preview on the canvas (like most other PDN plugins).

The one issue with this is that after you press Apply the plugin cannot be canceled,  you would have to use undo in the :WindowHistory: History window after the plugin closes.

So a few miles south of me on Sunday, we had the worst car pileup in Wisconsin history. 131 cars in a near-whiteout storm.

All I could think is, "It's February. In Wisconsin. On the weekend. Why are you trying to act like it's June?!? Stay home!"

Only one fatality, but that's really one too many. Don't go out if you can avoid it!

Well looks like I'll be going into early retirement (58 years old) in a couple of months. I could re-locate to another state, but not in the mood anymore. Been with the company for 38 years and don't feel like starting over again. All the kids have grown up and moved out, but I think it's time to throw in the towel instead of trying something new....

@BoltBait - sorry to read about your broken garage.  Boy, you've had a lot of aggro lately 😱

@dipstick Yep - to retire and move too, sounds like a lot.  One thing at a time 😉

That bites the big one @dipstick!   I hope you are able to financially retire.  Losing a job at our age, it isn't so easy finding a new one.

And you've got about 4 years to go till you can 'collect' at 62.

How one person can affect the lives of many - at a great expense!  We live in a 15 floor condo block:

On Thursday some bright spark, on the 11th floor (we are on the 8th) was rinsing out their swimming apparel, in a wash basin, and left the tap running for hours!  Result?  They flooded 5 floors, including ours.  More damage was done than Hurricane Irma, which hit us in 2017  😨 they are still totting up what the cost of the clean up will be 😱

So sorry to hear that @Pixey  Hope the damage isn't too extensive.  I just couldn't imagine walking away, leaving the water running... 😨

I have given up on Firefox.  I have noticed how it has become increasingly bloated and the speed of it has suffered greatly.  I finally bit the bullet and downloaded Chrome.  I have been using it ever since.

Here's an article from 2017 that highlighted the issue with Firefox.

I actually use Chromium extensively since I'm running Linux. Love it and haven't used FireFox in a few years now....

Well, it's official, I lost my job and am currently in pre-retirement mode at the moment. Don't feel too bad for me however, I should be OK as I've planned well so far....

We'll see what life has in store for me next though.

You're not the only one. :(

I recently found out that my job is being outsourced to India.

I have 3 weeks to find another job at Intel or I'll be forced to retire.  AND, in the mean time, I have to train my replacement who barely speaks English and can't program themselves out of a wet paper bag...

(I've had 1 interview, but no luck so far finding another position... because for every job I apply for, I'm up against 100 other people that were cut at the same time as me.  Seriously, Intel just cut 28% of their IT department, worldwide.  And, they'll probably do it again next year once everyone over in India is trained.)

How does a company replace an employee with someone else who's not even qualified for the position?

Sure they'll be paying him a lot less, but you get what you pay for.

The executives at Intel must be smoking "the good stuff".
