You do realize an Author could put the same type of malicious code into a .dll file, right? For example, let's say Joe Shmoe posts a new plugin, and you download the .dll file. When you run the plugin in paint.net, it (the plugin) secretly executes some spyware. Suffice it to say, dll files are not much safer than exe files. I offer 3 ways to obtain my plugins, because for people like you (and me). - Installer. Great for noobs, and people that can't be bothered with manually placing files. - Zip of dll files. Good for people concerned/worried about sneaky installers. - Source code. For people that want to inspect (or hack) the code, and build it themselves. 1 Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
dipstick
I had to do some unwanted "Off Roading" this morning on my way to work with my motorcycle. Some car went into the left lane to make a left turn, then decided to go back into the lane I was in. It was all I could do to keep my bike upright and he literally ran me off the road into a ditch heading straight for a telephone pole! I had to do a lot or wrestling, but managed to keep the bike upright and stopped it 3 feet from the pole. All that Dirt Bike riding in my younger years really paid off...... The car stopped for a few seconds, then took off. I had to push my 700 LBS. bike up an embankment, that was no fun at all. The guy never even tried to help. Just as well, because I don't know if I could've resisted to beating the bloody potato out of him...... If anyone is curious, the Harley FatBoy makes for a lousy dirtbike.
Rickhum
So much to read and I'm still trying to work out when to give reputation. My cat head butts me in the morning @ about 5 or 6 am.I think it's his way of kissing me but It's not always appreciated. I'm not a ' cat person' despite what labelers tell me. I just love animals & ended up with my daughters cat for a few months between houses. Four years later and he's still here. I think he's staying, which is just as well as cats are very humanising and I probably need a bit of that. I'm often out of my comfort zone with ppl & tend to isolate. Anything that rouses my empathy and makes me more considerate can only be a good thing. I feel for him cause I'm a bit of a grump as I approach the gates of seniority and give him a bit of a hard time. He annoys me a good deal & I grouch @ him & he gets awfully offended & guilt trips me and sulks.. He often makes me feel good though. Especially when I come home and he's so happy to see me that he beats up one of his toys with glee in my honour. Maybe he's just happy to know he's getting fed for another day. He's deadly with the rats & mice and often presents me with breakfast in bed. Anyway, I love my cat but I don't really care for other cats so I'm not a cat person I'm just a cat's person. tuvm Pdn. 1 Quote “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see further.” ― Thomas Carlyle
barbieq25
Dipstick, you did well for keeping the bike upright, not belting the bloke & for pushing the Fatboy up a hill. Saw a bloke on a bike, must've had new girlfriend on the back. He has all the gear on. Good bloke. She had jeans & light jacket with sneakers. Not impressed. Imagine the surprise (Dipstick, you will esp. appreciate this) when he indicates right but turns left. In our motorcycling group it's ATGATT - all the gear, all the time. Dress for the slide, not the ride. In the country city where we live, people race up to red lights but when it goes green they brake. All newcomers are astounded by this behaviour. Some petitions were going around for the mayor to fix the lights...only lights that need changing are in the brainbox of 90% of the drivers! Rickhum, sounds like the odd couple to me Could be worse. He could purr & drool in your ear. 1 Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. April Jones, 2012 Gallery My DA Gallery
Si Borg
I'm still not convinced people are bad drivers per se - just that they don't think the laws of the road apply to them and screw everybody else. And then the courts don't punish them adequately. The person who drove me off the road whilst on his phone didn't lose his licence because of the 'hardship' it would bring him and his family, yet my injuries are classed as life changing bring far more far reaching consequences. Money doesn't always take away the bitter taste I thought the bang on the head was worse than I thought when I came back here and all the changes
dipstick
Fortunately I didn't get hurt and there was virtually no damage to my bike, just some grass and sod wedged into my left floorboard. I have to wonder if the car driver's conscience isn't bothering him knowing that he forced a motorcyclist off the road via his stupidity, then left the scene of the accident with total disregard.... Rickhum
I read the forum rules again recently. I first read them a few years back when I was completely ignorant of netiquette and terminology. I was so intimidated that I wet my pants and didn't come back for two years. This time though it all seemed reasonable and I understand most of it. I'm still a bit scared of Rick Brewster though and hope he doesn't bite. I've checked out the gallery and a lesser man may be intimidated by all the brilliant work there in. It gives me a benchmark and a goal which is very important to the creative process. So once again; tuvm Pdn. P.s, I've run out of Reputation for today but it's coming. barbieq25
Rickhum, yep, that was me too. Afraid of doing the wrong thing in the wrong place. Some kind souls encourage me to post here all those years ago. Rick does bite sometimes but not without much provocation. We are here to help you too, so never be afraid to ask. The tutes are great for learning the nuts & bolts of plugins & techniques. However, where the tutes say to flatten at the end - DON'T! Keep as many of your layers intact as possible. Keep a PDN (native file type) as well as the .PNG or whatever file type that you work with. Work in a canvas at least 2x what you want to finish will. I do 4x & then resize down by 25%. This creates a smoother image but you need serious pc power with some images. For 800 x 600 I always use 4x, for 1920 x 1080, I use 2x generally. Mastering Paint.NET was written to help users (us). While it was for an earlier version, the information is invaluable! Shochi
Rants, at your own risk, is controversial decision to make it possible: to angry, to laugh, to talk high level, to be cynical, At the same moment. It's like the F word ; which direct to pleasure and suffer at the same time. When i write, i feel it like poetry, Even if it's HTML & CSS. I write electronic-music in the digital world with little confusion and little bit joy. It's called Duality or Dualism. When 2 forces or energy exist, but they are the opposite of each other. Many people i met was suffering from the unbalanced between the 2 sides, including me. Now days i take my medical treatment to balance my Energies. Light & Dark as black & white. And what is between. Rickhum
I had a wonderful fathers day thanks to my girls & grandson. They made me feel so valued that I'm still beaming. Barbieq, razor is a bit harsh barb, out my way they call ppl without a beard, women, As I take on more ambitious projects, more tech prob's come up. I've been having a few issues around dpi, canvas size and clarity of the image. Huge learning curve for me as I only have a standard sized brain and it resists expansion. I've been working on 12 x 8 inch canvas mostly but sounds like I need to go bigger. I have changed from working in 96 dpi to around 120, seems to be better, dunno the standard. If I do a lot of certain effects, blurring for example I can get a few crashes so I've learned to save...a lot I'm running an i5 on windows 7 with 4 gigs of ram which is only just enough but being a battler I soldier on. I plan to upgrade as soon as the wolf living at my front door moves to the back paddock.. I think my work may be improving since I've been more active in the forum. I've only recently cottoned on to the fact that the forum is THE reference source. Yeah I need to check out the mastering Paint.net e book. Thanks so much Barb, just the sort of info I need, good onya. Shochi
You know Rick, when i study that definition of Duality/Dualism from the encyclopedia i was soldier. i read a few more definition related to this Word, and after something like 70 definitions of Ideas, i took all 34 Volume books of the encyclopedia and moved them to the room of the garbage in my building. It's was heavy for me to take with me more Words and definitions and ideas, i felt its enough so i said goodbye. after years i was sorry for 34 Volume books. But not for long. when i found the Search engine of google, in the speed of light. Wikipedia took me to some places i never was before, Regarding the Concept of Ideas.

null54
Writing parsers is extremely difficult. I wasted several hours with ANTLR trying to create a grammar for Photoshop's EnableInfo resource. After compiling the grammar it fails to parse my example text correctly. I was hoping that I could create a proper parser to replace my current string scanning code, but it does not appear that will be happening any time soon.
