I've just had to uninstal windows update KB3013455 because it corrupts true type fonts. Meaning codelab 1.8 in Pdn 3.5.11 becomes unuseable. It seems Microsoft are aware of this and issued the update anyway? - strange. :(

Cyclone Marcia, now a category 5 which is the worst, is bearing down on us. Within the next hour or two it will lash us with her 300km an hour winds. Our backyard has almost 6 inches of water over it. It was a category 5 that wiped out Darwin in 1974. Not much left of the town. Right on Christmas Day. People were killed. We are prepared as we can be. We've survived cyclones before but thankfully Cat 5 are very rare. Its getting nasty out there. We are 40 something kilometres inland but my friends are right on the coast. Some in caravans. Shelters are in place & evacuations are in place.

For those of you who pray, please do so for the people of Queensland. The cyclone is massive in the areas it will affect. I hope this link works

If you don't hear from me for a few days it's probably that we have no power.

Keep safe @BBQ - I will be watching the news and hoping you don't get flooded any more.  I've only experienced a Cat 1 (in Mexico) and that scared the pants off of me :( .

Ok back! Well, that was the worst cyclone I have ever lived through. 90% of the city had no power for 3 days. The seaside town of Yeppoon got shredded. No power, no mobile phones, no water, no homes. Thankfully no lives were lost.

The city installed generators to run traffic lights - someone stole 4. Someone drove a couple of hundred kilometres to buy 4 200 litre drums of petrol. Someone stole 2.

The heat & humidity is phenomenal. God help all those little kids & babies. No power no way of cooling down. I think the worst is over but there are large chunks of the city without power & homes were lost. We have flooding in some areas. We had a little damage to our home & we lost a massive tree & 3 large palms. The garden, like all the gardens & parklands that we were so proud of in the city, looks like someone put them in a blender.

One of our friends who had power came & brought us lunch of fish & chips & the next day he brought ice-creams! He'd been helping to clear the debris in his neighbourhood. He is up here on a work assignment. There are some good people around still.

Having been through some forces of nature myself, I utterly sympathize with your situation barbieq25.

I hope the utility services are quickly restored and life can return to some sort of routine.

Keep smiling! :D

Along with the random acts of kindness such as the couple with a chainsaw & ute stopping to help people like our neighbour who had a tree down in her yard. She is in her 80's. Our other neighbour feeding his other enigbour & us sausages on bread. People helping others with nothing but a pair of hands. Offers of food such as sandwiches & an esky of ice for an elderly woman whose only source of help is isolated by floodwater, alerted through facebook, there has been crime. One person was robbed whilst their family slept in their backyard to escape the heat.

Sometimes I feel so proud of my fellow residents & other times I am totally appalled at their selfish acts. None of us remember the stocks where people were put into wooden frames & publicly humiliated by others throwing rotten foodstuffs at them but I'd like to see them for those who commit crimes such as stealing from those who are already in desperate need & have suffered so much. Bring back chain gangs too. We have enough prisoners who have nothing better to do & they could learn new skills.

New rant: wrote a War & Peace long email to the boss outlining the damage at our work site, along with photos - next thing the stupid email system tells me the entity was too large & could not be sent. OK so where is the email?? Its GONE! Time for a John McEnroe fit.

Rules were made to be broken ;)  I am hatching an evil plan to use HTML5 in a browser window to present my talk. Basically an interactive webpage.  Muwahahahahaha!

I see Imageshack is now serving a banner ad for broken image links. I miss the old "Click and discover...." banner, as it gave my parody signature relevance.

Case in point:

I can't see toe_head's sig either. It just shows the Imageshack banner...
