I thought 56% was a pass? If you are a consistently high achiever, then that would hurt heaps. Focus on why it happened & work on fixing that. Do you need to work on recall or is it concepts that are not as strong as they could be? I feel your pain.

*sigh*  You just can't help some people.

Paint.NET is NOT the source of all computer problems - it just might be that an issue shows up in Paint.NET.  Like when my car stops because it's out of gas.  That's not the cars fault and re-installing the engine is NOT going to help.

Ugh: my beautiful tweed jacket got all dirty ;__; Had to take it to the dry cleaner's and won't get it back until Wednesday. The worst part is the dry cleaning costs 16€, that's four times what I paid for the jacket. :( ridiculous

It may be a pass, but I'm usually used to A's and B's. I fumbled on recall and the concepts...needless to say I'll be studying a lot more... :(

or more effectively. I know what you mean about As & Bs...much like the HD (High Distinctions). Consistently achieved HDs for everything & then got 53% for the first art history assignment - are you serious?! I burned the books in the wood fire after ascertaining there was not an error made. The lecturer hated me and more precisely, my husband, as they used to teach together. Mind you, calling the "great" philosopher a bunch of p!sspots with a God fixation certainly did not win any brownie points. What about Dali & Warhol? How do they figure in with what was being taught as "truth". The reality is that there is no reality other than the one we each make.

I didn't finish that course but did something more useful like "Managing Organisations" which has provided me with useful insights & is more than relevant to what I do daily :D & I got a HD :P

Thing is Daniels that some things are just not a "good fit" with us.

but they serve as useful reminders of what our strengths & areas for improvement are :D

Sometimes we have to jump through the hoops like sheep. Easier to do it than be brought back by the dogs nipping our heels.

My rant: 3 days missed work because some nasty insect that I did nothing to, decided to bite me & now I cannot stand up for more than 5 minutes  Constantly nauseous, with a freezy pack stuck on my leg. Thank goodness it is summer. Side effects from pills - yeah not a happy camper.

@EER - Great comments on the pc issue :D Good onya.

[A lot of stuff...]

I'm considering the low grade a point of motivation. A lot of what I missed was stuff that I should have known, but somehow forgot in the heat of the moment.... Anyway...all I can do now is forget about that, and do my dead-level best on the remainder of the class. Thanks for all of that  :arrow-up: :bertie:

My grocery store is leaving town. Bad management, decline in town population?  It's no more "I'll just run to the store for that" just ten minutes away, It'll be a half mile drive to the next town.

I've been spoiled.

You're not quite as spoiled as I am, though...I have one grocery store just a 15 minute walk away and four more within a 20 minute drive, two of which are 5 minutes away. As if that isn't enough, the mall is an 8 minute drive down the street.

...and the traffic isn't all that bad either.

I've been spoiled.

My rant: I applied to a college, but the application process is so darned long I'm still working on it 2 months from when I started...and so far, the total cost has been over 100$. Even after all that, acceptance is doubtful...why does MIT have to make their application so discouraging? :(

@Welshy - I understand, totally, where you are coming from (my hubby had cancer last year, but is doing OK now) and I wish your family a speedy recovery..... and yourself too.

I wish your Daughter and Mother in-law well Welshblue. My mother survived an aggressive form of cancer and 14 years on she is now a grand age of 82 and is still going strong. It does put the little things in life into perspective when things happen to our loved ones.

@ doughty ... I'm having a job working out the maths.  Half a mile by car has to be quicker than the 10 minutes to the old shop ?   :arrow-right:

Thank you Welshblue for catching that, I had a good giggle. I meant an half hour drive. And while I'm in the next town, I might as well stop at a few other places which will then turn into an all day event.

Sad to hear about your family and I hope the best for them. it's the little stuff that makes you crazy, so keep posting.

Pdnoob, I'm originally from St.Louis, yeah lots of stores. I've been living in dinky town too long. The only traffic I have is if I'm stuck driving behind a farmer's tractor or stopped at a railroad crossing. As idyllic as it is, I miss the city.

Good luck with MIT.

Whoa Barbieq25 hope you're feeling better.

This may be my last post in the rants thread as I count the blessings.  When your mother in law is diagnosed with breast cancer which is treatable, then your daughter is rushed from the doctors surgery with suspected meningitis in the same week ... it makes you take stock of things and realise I've stressed out at some pretty pathetic things in my time here.

Wow...that is horrible and having to deal with stresses like that...I hope things work out in the end.  Count your blessing, for sure.

Some guy who just graduated from my highschool last year just got arraigned for stabbing a person to death. Idiot.

What's really ticking me off, though, is how people at school are talking about it. "It wasn't preconceived, it was in the heat of the moment..." blah blah blah. Who gives a ****ing **** whether it was preconceived or not. He took the life of a promising young man just because he was a little angry. Why does it make any difference if he planned it an hour before or seconds before it happened? Give me a break.

And all the speculating about the number of year's he'll be sentenced to in prison. Is this some sort of game to everyone?

^^ You need a blog.  I post all sorts of angry stuff in mine.  It helps.  Of course on one reads it - but that's not the point.

@Welshy - fingers crossed for the two gals in your family and a quick recovery.  I know this sort of thing is tough, but just hang in there.

Just heard that @BBQ lost her Dad - can't be fun either :unimpressed: .

@PDNoob - I hear you!  Ive been watching this farce in South Africa, Oscar Pesorius shooting and killing his girlfriend!  He's like "it was a mistake" let me now get on with my life as usual.  I hope they throw the book at this creep :black: .

@Noob and Pixey: There's been a lot of that mess going on lately, with the Pistorius thing, and the two recent incidents (the mass shooting at the New Town Elementary in CT and the former cop turned mass murderer in CA) here in the US. There used to be a time when people like this actually suffered the consequences for what they did (i.e., suffered the death penalty), but now they can argue "mental issues" or insanity, and get off scot-free. It's not a mental health problem. It's a sin problem. Simple as that. I'd better quit before I get too worked up... :black:

My condolences go out to Barbie and her family.

I am so sorry to hear about barbieq's dad. That's a tough one. My condolences.

Welshy, I hope things are going well for your family.

This South African guy claims he thought his girlfriend was an intruder. Is it common for people to break into a house, go into the bathroom, and lock the door? I've never heard of that. I'm not naming him because in all these cases we hear more about the perpetrator than the victims.

I believe in some of these cases there truly are mental health issues, and having mental health problems myself I can see it. To a point, and not to see people get off without any consequences. We also have a responsibility to know there is a problem and get help for it before it comes to violence. And there needs to be help readily available. I wish they had the Kids' Help Phone when I was a kid. Some things might have been different.

Sometimes school sucks... I just learned that I failed my first O-chem test miserably. Like 56% miserably. Never seen a grade that low my entire life. Now I'm going to have to work my butt off all semester just to make up for it. *commence sad violins* smiley-sad008.gif smiley-sad008.gif smiley-sad008.gif

For you my friend I commence sad music on the world's smallest violin.
