In the upper left corner of the quick reply box, I have the switch turned off. I clicked "Quote" on Rick's message, pressed enter twice, typed a short message, and added one smilie by hand before pressing the "Post" button. I'm using Chrome on Win 7. I had cleared my cache before entering this page and trying to post the above.

so...11:11 12-21-12 has come and gone.

Why were we worried that Mayans could predict something 5000 years into the future when we can barely predict the weather 2 days in advance?

All this hype over nothing, and most of it was because a movie was made about some obscure Mayan engraving. I'm willing to bet that, if there was no movie, only a small group of extremists would have said anything.

It boggle my mind that people can be so affected by media these days. Seriously, just because it is televised doesn't mean it is anywhere near real. I can spew "speculations" into a microphone in front of a camera too. Anyone can do that. So why do we believe all of it?

I'd have gone out oblivious.  Never even realised that was meant to be today

Worse was getting dragged Christmas Shopping.  I really don't know why she takes me ... we always end up falling out because I get bored and then snappy

To cap it off getting into an argument with some school kids.

Seeing them tormenting a homeless guy who was busking, then to deliberately kick away his hat holding his money and laughing about it, really got my fire up.

All he cared about was protecting his dog

Mummy and Daddy would have been so proud of their lil' darlings.  Quite ironic it happened in Shrewsbury the birthplace of Charles Darwin ... maybe some of us haven't moved on that much.   Worst of all was seeing the people who choose to ignore these things and walk on past.  What sort of society is it becoming when we can't stick up for the vulnerable

Welshy, she takes you with because you are the donkey. (to carry stuff :D

What a sad world we live in. I'm glad you stood up for the homeless guy. Guess the world needs Grinches more than Santas :O

Who is "we?" I haven't seen or heard of anyone taking it seriously. Just the occasional silly story in the news.
"we" meaning "we not-old people who seem to be excessively gullible" ie highschoolers

apologies for the confusion :P

My friend is a two-faced [noun]. She keeps trying to isolate me from our group of friends. She somehow forgets me whenever we plan something together. Today for example she gave each of us presents - except for me and another friend. Friend A got socks, B got tea and pens, C got a LOTR-elven-necklace or something she ordered online, with a personal letter from the maker of the accessory. I got a "Bad hair day" badge - She offered me 10 and asked me to pick the ones I liked.

I don't really mind not getting anything, it isn't the point. It's just that I find it extremely rude to talk about giving gifts all day ("Oh I can't wait to give these presents!" "I wish X would arrive already so I could give her her Christmas present!") and then exclude me and another friend. To make a big deal of giving everyone something they like and then just saying "Oh I'm sorry honey, I couldn't get you anything" to me just hurts.

I don't even know why. I don't think I did anything to deserve it.

I spent the whole morning baking. I only wanted to make my friends happy. I almost cried because I thought I messed up the batter and that I wouldn't have anything to give them. I just wanted them to know how much I appreciate them being my friends and just talking with me.

Please tell me they got punched?

What was going on with his dog, btw?

Maybe I should. But after writing all that, I don't feel like I care enough about it to tell my friends. It was just inconsideration on her part and not much else. It upset me because I put so much effort into trying to please my friends, without them reciprocating.

Edit: oh and I find it great that you stood up for the homeless person, Welsh. I hope I can build up enough confidence to do things like that as well!

Nobody got punched, kicked or headbutted.  Or stabbed.  Or shot in a cowardly fashion

His dog ?  I don't know but I bet he cares more about his dog more than he cares about himself and any food goes to the dog first

:( I was hoping one of them got punched.

Wow, he really cares about his dog. Not sure I could do that (Though I would make sure it got food).
