Rants *enter at own risk*

The behaviour of my brother's Mandarin teacher is outrageous. (She is also my teacher)

Not too long ago, she pointed at a certain miscreant in my brother's class. She simply pointed at him and told him to stay behind at the end of the lesson. However, she was not pointing clearly nor did she address this troublemaker by name.

There were boys next to him that had no idea who was being pointed to some one then asked, "Miss, Who were you pointing to that had to stay behind?"

The teacher then responded saying: "Right, you can stay behind as well." This still did not answer the questions of some people so they asked again (I assume in a very polite manner to avoid being told to stay behind) however, my brother's Mandarin teacher rudely refused to answer the questions and ended up making the entire class stay behind.

That day, our father picked us up from school, and we sat in the car for a while waiting for the class to be released the evil clutches of the teacher.

My other rant: A massive load of homework all in one day. :o

So, I got my license about a week ago...

and lately my parents have had me running errands for them...

but today I had an essay to write before 5 PM (4:45 Pacific time right now).

So just a few minutes ago, as I was frantically writing my essay, as after all, I am one of the world's greatest procrastinators  , my parents asked me to run another errand.

Well, I had an essay to write, and so refused.

Following my refusal, I was yelled at and deemed selfish.

Now here's my question...

If I'm too busy with homework to do something for my parents, and yet they're not too busy to do it for themselves, how can I possibly come off as the selfish one?

I think selfishness is a subjective term used by the one who isn't getting what they want from someone else.

(4:29:21 PM) pdnxmiker Last night I began to write my 10 page term paper for my America at War final this morning. I got the first page done then I woke up at 7:30 (in other words, I accidentally fell asleep). My exam was at 9:00 so I rushed and quoted a lot through nine pages of term paper. I get to the exam (which is open book) and he hands us a 200 question exam that were all 'short response.' As well, we had to fill out a matrix that included important dates, people, campaigns, reasons, and consequences of each American war.

(4:30:21 PM) pdnxmiker After four and a half hours of working on it (!) I was finished. I get to my dorm room only to find out that the entire school is being evacuated for a winter snow storm. I live in GULF SHORES, Al, the most southern tip of the state and I am currently dealing with snow. I got snowed out of school and was completely unprepared for it. Blegh.

Once again my Xbox360 has messed up again and no I'm going to have to order a repair. This will mean I will be on my 4th Xbox when I get a replacement. I wish the 360's were reliable.

I was at a friend's last night and we were talking about X360 reliability issues. Then he goes to turn on his, and.... RRoD. Nice.

I'm literally laughing. I might pick up the Final Fantasy XIII Special Edition 360 Bundle. It would be nice to have a back-up and the bundle is pretty sweet.

I would really like my "release day shipping" copy of Bioshock 2. Everyone else has had it for 2 days now. Way to go, Amazon.

I got BioShock 2 on release day, but that was the day my 360 red ringed on me. Its still in the wrapping. No point on opening it yet when I can't play it. :(

No, nerve. I don't see the point, it's an idiotic practice, and it's double annoying to me considering the fact I'm currently in a state of limerence, and have been for the past three months or so. And on that note, I don't care how obscure a term "limerence" is, I refuse to describe it as anything else but that, except, perhaps, an infatuation.

Considering your age, why not explore those feelings? Let him or her know, and work from there. Couldn't be anything other than healthy for you. Should (I assume) she reject, that would help you pass through what you seem to believe is a disease. Otherwise, should she accept it would probably be equally good to explore that type of relationship.

It isn't a disease if it is natural. Showing desire for someone should happen in each of our lives and it should be equally stated that it is within our best interests to insure that this desire never transforms into a regrettable 'if' thought.

While I am not saying you don't have work to accomplish, I believe that the majority of your work load could easily be sacrificed for the sake of relaxation, which I ultimately believe talking to her would bring.

Haha, nice save there before Mike :P

I agree with both sides -- though I tend to side with Mike.

There will always be plenty of work to be done, but there won't always be such special opportunities.

Like Mike said, if it's natural, go for it!

It'll either end, so you can move on, or continue, so you can be happy. Win win for everyone.

Autodesk makes it incredibly tedious to obtain legitimate copies of their software. It's almost like they want people to pirate it. Any of the following would have been easier and faster:

[*:12rwyveh]Pirating a copy of Autodesk Inventarrr!
[*:12rwyveh]Cracking the executable by hand in Notepad.
[*:12rwyveh]Going to Autodesk HQ and holding the CEO hostage for the low, low ransom of 3 easy payments of one-third of a license key.
[*:12rwyveh]Getting infinitely many monkeys and infinitely many computers loaded with Visual Studio and waiting for Inventor to get written -- Microsoft makes it infinitely easier for students to get their software than does Autodesk, so this solution is entirely practical. I also worked for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for 3 years, so the monkeys aren't an issue either.
[*:12rwyveh]Writing the software myself, from scratch, using only butterflies.
