Andrew D
RANT: As part of my ICT coursework, I need to use an E-Portfolio, and, unfortunately I have to use tables Even worse though, the inline slide thingy-bobs can't have a transparent background, meaning the style of it will really be screwed up. Help, CMD?
Crazy Man Dan
Why do you have to use tables? Like tables are one of the required criteria? And I'm going to need a slightly more... better definition than "inline slide thingy-bob". Do you mean in-page scrollbars? I'll be happy to try to help where I can. If you have a link to an example, that would help too. Crazy Man Dan
Whoa! I clicked the Quote button and the message was slightly different. Tables would save me a lot of time. A lot. That's debatable. I mean, I know it comes down to familiarity as CSS can take a while to "get", but the rigidity of tables has always been a sticking point for me. It actually requires more forethought for me to think of the table structure and build the appropriate organization with TRs and TDs and colspans and nesting and all that than it would to toss together a CSS layout. Although I am considering just using CSS and HTML. It all comes down to cost-benefit. If it'll take too long and it's not that important, I can forgive you for using tables. And, I mean Inline frames (basically, you display one web page inside another). Yeah, iframes - white frames for you to put photos in. They're a little more intuitive but cost almost twice as much. But no, do you mean giving an iframe itself a transparent background, or do you mean giving the scrollbars the iframe may possibly generate a transparent background? Crazy Man Dan
I'll attach what I mean Look at index.htm.I'll just do CSS, as, honestly, I hate tables. Ah. Do you mean that thick, hideous, beveled border? Iframes have a border by default, but you can use CSS to border:0px; them just like tables or the like. You can give an iframe an ID or just use an inline style="" attribute. That's the only thing I see that really looks out of place. If that's not what you meant, than I'm really having an off day...
