RANT: People that throw around the acronym PSP without realizing that us programmers think it means Program Segment Prefix. Very confusing!

I've had every GameBoy since the original brick (save the Pocket, which shared the same game library, so it doesn't count against my statistic), and the GameBoy Advance still boasts my largest handheld games library.

I really need to get the Micro - the hinge on my Advance SP is wearing out, and the compact size, combined with the sharper, back-lit screen make it very appealing.

micro =="

i got one, and the graphics were okay, but not worth the cost

I've been feeling nostalgic since the release of WotLK. I need to level my druid to 80 and see if Restoration is good for leveling since I have good raiding gear.

@Dan: While I agreed with your entire rant about the GB and its associated suffixes, I do want to caution you. I owned a Micro for a while, and it's not as good as it sounds.

Oh, sure, it's smaller. A lot smaller. Smaller than my phone was at the time I bought it. But that's a blessing and a curse. Eye-Strain-O-Vision, thy name is two-inch-screen.

And, yes, it's crisper and brighter. But there's no way to turn the backlight off, just down. Really causes the battery life to suffer. As I recall, my SP ran for about five or six hours longer than my Micro did, from charging at the same time and both running with backlight on lowest setting.

Third, it doesn't play any of the classic Game Boy games; only the GBA games. And though the GBA library is amazing, I missed being able to pop Tetris in and drop some blocks.

Fourth, mine got stolen. And that's terrible. Not terribly relevant, though. :-)

So, yeah. I'd recommend just buying a new (or newer) GBASP from eBay or GameStop. It'll serve you better and probably be cheaper. That was definitely the apex of the family tree, so far. Although the DS Lite looks like it could make a dent in that...but I don't have one, so I can't be sure.

I want the Micro purely for the gadget factor. I mean, the thing is smaller than the screen of the PSP! The whole system! That's just crazy! Shortly after they were first introduced, I had the chance to try one out at the local VG Resale shop I love so much, and I'm pretty sure I could get used to the screen size.

As far as the back-library of games - I'm aware it's GBA only, but I'm not too worried. I don't play my GB/GBC games on my GBA SP - I have a GBC for that. Heck, I don't even play PSone games on my PStwo on a regular basis - I have a PSone for that. The backwards-compatibility here isn't a huge issue for me, because everybody knows GameBoys don't die. ;)

And as for battery consumption, I assumed it probably would take up more battery with the light, but that's why I love rechargeable systems. Besides, I've unfortunately been conditioned to expect frequent recharging - I think the best I've ever squeezed from my PSP is 6 and a half hours, and about three hours of that was video playback from the SD card, keeping the screen at minimum to medium brightness.

If I do get another SP, it'll have to be one of the later back-lit ones - I have the original front-lit model, and the light just isn't that bright and makes the colors muted.

So yeah, don't think I'm just going off all willy-nilly. ( :P ) I've done my research, conducted trials, and I'm pretty set on a Micro. One of these days.

Thanks for the advice, though. ;)

P.S.

As far as the DS Lite - I'm holding out for the DSi. Again, I realize the GBA backwards-compatibility is gone, but I'm pretty sure my GBA will never die (I have both the original horizontal model and the SP, with plans to get a Micro, so I'm pretty set), and I don't really like Guitar Hero all that much anyway. Downloadable content and SD Card support FTW! Plus, after a year of owning a Piano-Black PSP, I'm looking forward to a system with a finish that's not a fingerprint magnet. ;)

From what I've read, the DSi has no compatibility with the old DS games. I'm not sure if that is true, since Wikipedia still has wrong info about the cameras (the other one is actually 3,2 MP, not VGA.). I hope that isn't true :D

I was almost selling my DS. D: (yes, DS, not DS Lite)

My desktop ain't working.

The desktop can turn on but the monitor won't show the data and yes, the monitor can turn on. Some guy in Yahoo Answers said about changing the CMOS battery or whatever since he was in all caps.

Check out the Favicon. They're just running Drupal.

But yeah, it's pretty... meh. Is this one their old layout? That one still looks pretty formed-pressed (looks like the default Joomla structure), but it at least looks nice.

Yeah, that's their old layout.

*emphasis added*

That's a pretty vague statement... Do you mean the screen remains black, or just that it won't show the Windows stuff? If it's the former, replace your video card. If it's the latter, test with a Linux Live CD (Any distro) and replace your video card. You'll probably need a new one anyway. Damn kids these days won't buy 'dem new graphics cards.
