A Debate for the Ages- Firefox vs Opera vs IE and more!

Recommended Posts

lmao maybe installing all those betas was a bad idea. EVERYTHING you do in safari crashes.

my report bug to apple works, I think since you have a problem with the theme, its crashing when trying to access or show something in the theme.

Well, I guess this is one Beta in which I will not be participating. I'm using the GIMP Beta right now, I tested the Inkscape Beta, the Windows Media Player 11 Beta, IE7 Beta, Terragen2 Beta, and the PDN Betas, and all have at least maintained a level of usability.

Clicking the Font Chooser button in the prefs also crashed the browser. :(

Hey! I use iTunes and I loves it!

I'm not an Apple fan, but I'd love to ensure my sites work with the WebKit rendering engine. For instance, there's one site I developed where the CSS rollover effects didn't work on the Javascript-revealed drop-down menus, and I didn't know about it until my bossman asked me why it didn't work... It worked in IE6/7, FF, and Opera, but Safari had a problem of which I did not know.

Well, the only two Betas I'm still using are The GIMP and Terragen2, since those are the only two that are currently in Beta testing stage.

As far as Safari crashing, I blame Safari, not all the other unrelated programs I use.

Hey! I use iTunes and I loves it!

Well, that makes one of us. :(

For no apparent reason, iTunes suddenly will not download my purchased (from iTunes) music to my iPod. :(

I've been listening to some sweet tunes (Break Stuff by Limp Bizket, for example) for months now... then suddenly they aren't on my iPod. I try to resync it and BAM! it tells me that my iPod is not authorized to play those tracks. WTF? :x :x :x

iPods are evil, I'm not a massive fan of Apple, them & Microsoft are as bad as each other imho.

Ah. See, I'm still old-fashioned. I buy CDs and rip the tracks to my hard-drive.

That's where iTunes is the best.

Windows Media Player is horrible for ripping.

v An excellent open–source strategy game—highly recommended.

Apple has pulled off a remarkable feat: it's released crappy software for Windows that only makes users want more of it.

iTunes is a bad Windows app. It's slow and it's a horrible resource hog. On the Mac, though, it's another story. The app taunts Windows users.

Do they not realize how bad WMP is compared to it?

i like itunes just because of the visualizer and the fact that i have an ipod. personally, apple overcharges on all of their products and people still buy them, and hey, i want one too. I just realize that i cant spend that much on a computer at one time...

MediaMonkey all the way, especially with v3.0 coming soon.

iTunes RAM hogged like no tomorrow but the album viewer in iT7 is very cool to flip through.

WMP has a bad organisational format, what's with everything being categorised in alphabetical order (among other orders), I personally prefer one long list. I only use for it ripping and if I could I would return back to WMP10.

Thought I heard it somewhere. I shall have gander as we speak.

EDIT:

How to roll back WMP 11[/url]":d01cd]This issue should not occur if the final released version of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP is installed on your computer. This is because Windows Media Player 10 cannot be installed if the released version of the Windows Media Format 11 Runtime is already installed (The runtime is installed with the final released version of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP).

I can't be bothered to workaround the workaround so WMP 11 stays. Oh well no biggy, I barely use it anyway.

Back on topic though, Firefox is the best!

IE is not.

I'm going to be annoying and bring Opera back in to this debate. :D

One thing I despise is that the program does not automatically send focus to the page after switching tabs. If I click on a new tab, I must click again on the page body before my scroll wheel will function.

Does this happen only to me, or is there a setting for this? I does not see one...

Same problem, CPM

Opera v9.00 - Build 8502

EDIT: I take that back. The only time I have to click on a tab to bring into focus is when I middle-click a link. After a quick check in the preferences I am able to correctify the issue.

EDIT: EDIT: Nevermind. It was just my mind playing tricks on me. I need sleep... BAD!

Actually, CMD, I don't mind having to click a second time. It would be annoying to have to click back to the page you were looking at if you want to open a number of links on a page.

Hmm? Are you talking about opening new tabs? I hate it when my browser switches to a newly opened tab automatically.

I'm saying that, say I have the Forum open in one window and I'm replying to a post. If I need to reference a different topic, I'll open a second window. Any time I click on the tab to switch between the two, I have to click on the page body before I can use the scroll wheel to scroll down. So, if I'm searching for a specific post, or trying to reference multiple ones, that's two clicks for every 1 switch between the two.

I don't have to. That proves it... IE7 Rocks!!!
