usedHONDA
I better not be in that "some people" category.... ncfan51
It's a debate, it's not to convince anyone to use anything, it's to discuss matters at hand. You, on the other hand, just don't like people proving you wrong... or for a better word fighting back. That hurt my feelings But there's no point in debating if we arejust going to repeat the same points over again. By the way, Safari on Windows simply stinks on my computer Quote +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ I am a disco dancer. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+
Stephan
I guess i can say that's right it doesn't show links, and it's hard to even log in on the forums with it. Luckily its just a Beta.
Crazy Man Dan
But there's no point in debating if we arejust going to repeat the same points over again. By the way, Safari on Windows simply stinks on my computer Yeah, I downloaded the Beta, but no fonts show up at all. Not on the pages, nor on the user interface. As a result, I can't view any of the menus, and I can't navigate by typing a URL into the location bar. Image links display fine, and I can click on the text links I can't see, but I don't know what they say or where they'll take me... Definitely not the quality I was expecting from an Apple product, especially in a third Beta. I use iTunes and I love it, and I've seen Safari on my boss' Mac, and I respect it as a good, quick, standards-compliant browser. I look forward to when they do get it working, though. It certainly won't replace Firefox as my default browser, but it will be another tool in the anti-IE arsenal. Hopefully, as more of their market-share seeps away, they'll find it in their better interest to put the effort toward the necessities, such as fully supporting CSS1, supporting the application-XML MIME type so we can give our XHTML pages the proper doctype... Edit: I can't believe I forgot to capitalize MIME... >_> Quote I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance; I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast. ~ Becoming the Archetype
Yata
I just installed Safari and it shows links and images... but my deity-the middle mouse button, is disabled! Gah! *stops breathing* Other than losing my middle mouse button... it seems decent, I won't be changing browsers for it though. pyrochild
I use middle mouse-button to close tabs... no worky in safari. makes me a sad panda. But like CMD said, anything to force IE to be more standards compliant is cool with me. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Crazy Man Dan
I'm sure you're joking... If not, then you're obviously someone who has never experienced the frustration of getting your semantically coded, CSS positioned XHTML document to work with IE 6 and 7... I would never wish that on anyone. Bob
Dan, please report a bug pressing the bug button. Also, bear in mind it's still a beta (even the third). I think it's principally to show off the new Webkit framework. Quote No. Way. I've just seen Bob. Crazy Man Dan
I assume the bug button is the button that looks like a bug... What's it supposed to do when I click it? I assume that locking up isn't the intended result... <_< Quote I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance; I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast. ~ Becoming the Archetype
moc426
lol I didn't try that button. the back and forward mouse buttons don't work for me, very annoying so I can't use it. Also languages don't seem to display properly on sites. edit: someone fix lloydo's sig. its bigger than should be and its annoying. while you are at it, change MattBlackLamb's rainbow sig edit 2: crazy man, I think thats a style issue or font issue on your machine, I can see the menus and links fine. Crazy Man Dan
So yeah, I clicked the bug button twice, and it locked the browser and I forced-killed the process. I decided to let it run it's course once, so I clicked the button and ran to Taco Bell (I needed food anyway). When I got back, a message was waiting for me: "Safari Web Browser has encountered an unexpected error and will now close." <_< Quote I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance; I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast. ~ Becoming the Archetype

Crazy Man Dan
Do you know what font it's supposed to use? I know the EULA spoke of included fonts, so I suppose it's possible that it screwed up the installation of those fonts... moc426
here is a screen shot of the appearance settings and fonts it uses, standard normal fonts. Try hitting cntrl and comma to bring up your prefs. and 2nd tab is appearanche maybe you can mess with the fonts by guessing where things are if you can't see those either. BUT I am not sure if these effect menu fonts. Crazy Man Dan
Well, I guess this is one Beta in which I will not be participating. I'm using the GIMP Beta right now, I tested the Inkscape Beta, the Windows Media Player 11 Beta, IE7 Beta, Terragen2 Beta, and the PDN Betas, and all have at least maintained a level of usability. Clicking the Font Chooser button in the prefs also crashed the browser.
