Rick Brewster
It depends on which layer you're talking about when you say "in one, draw a rectangle and lower its opacity". The background layer ... or layer 2? Rick Brewster
Can you send the PDN file to us? The e-mail is listed on our contact page, http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/contact.html (I don't list it here so as to avoid spambots). Thanks. Bob
I think i've the same problem. 1. Just run Paint.NET. 2. Set the opacity of the layer to any % 3. Save in PNG 4. no Transparency. Quote No. Way. I've just seen Bob. And... *poof!*—just like that—he disappears into the mist again. ~Helio
Zagna
You don't even need to save it as PNG. Just flattening it loses opacity.

Rick Brewster
I could have sworn we fixed this, but obviously we haven't. I'll look into it. Rick Brewster
Ok, Tom and I found and fixed the cause of this, so you'll see it in the first v2.6 release. We still have some other alpha blending issues to work out, ones that Dan and other forum member pointed out awhile ago. Turns out this alpha blending stuff is just plain difficult to figure out correctly. For example, when you consider the "Darken" blend mode, what's "darker": transparent, or black? What is the intensity of a transparent or partially transparent color value?
