Dual Screen.

Recommended Posts

Basically I have a sexy spare 19" flat screen monitor (dunno why I am using the 17" one at the moment. Just too lazy to switch I guess...) and was wondering how you hook em both up at the same time. I read on google that either you throw another graphics card into your machine and hook the second monitor up to it, or you get some adapter thing that lets you connect two VGA cables to a single VGA input.

I know some of you guys have dual screen setups so how do you do it?

YOu can get Graphics cards that have dual screen setups. I know my one supports it but I don't have the money (or the need) for a dual screen setup.

IIRC there's like Y things to connect multiple screens.

just splitting your outputs with a Y cable will result in both screens showing the same thing. neat? yes. useful? probably not.

Yes yes. Your graphics card should have at least 2 outputs on it.

Connect another monitor to the secondary output, go back into that properties window, in the dropdown list select the second one and then check "extend my windows desktop..."

click apply

you probably will want to adjust resolution and positioning

Unless your other monitor is a DVI one then yes, my graphics card came with an adaptor.
