1 bit

working in CAD files we sometimes pull in 1bit images. we use this to enable image transparancy directly in the CAD program.

however i can't get Paint.net to save less then 24bit.

anyone know of a way to make this happen?

What you want is achievable increasing the contrast to the maximum (brightness and contrast adjustment).

to be clear i want a 1 bit [black(1) an white(0)] monochomatic image.

no grey. no nothing. just black and white.

it has to be 1 bit for the appication i am using it in.

can paint.net save a 1bit file (bmp tiff png)?

file format isn't to critical just 1bit.

thanks

Using Brightness/Contrast [:BrightnessContrast:] in the Adjustments menu does just that.

Here's another quick example of what I did:

dang that sucks that there is no 1bit save but its okay i got it to work

i used the magic wand to remove all of my white background elements and left only my black lines i want.

saved it as a 24bit tiff

brought it into my CAD turned on transparancey and voila.. worked like a smoke-n-da-waffle.

thanks ya'll for the assistance.

It's great to hear that it worked out.
