oma
Simon I saw that on the news reports ! Can't be very common in your area of the world. Did you at least get a "snow day" off work? Simon Brown
No, I didn't have a day off from where I normally go. There wasn't much snow in the mourning where I live. --- There is quite a bit now, though.

Andrew D
jeez!this country is run by a bunch of loonies (i dont mind though, no school )! What do you expect from Labour, exactly? As for me, yes it was snowing, no I didn't get the day off from school, but seeing as it was a good day in general. Though here is one rant: Last maths lesson we had a maths/general knowledge quiz, and today we got our results back. My team lost by half a mark, and I was also very suprised when my teacher said that in 30GB's of memory, she took it through that there was 1000 bytes in a kilobyte, 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte, etc. when it should be 1024. That mistake by the teacher cost my team the victory and a bag of sweets

Zwicky
It depends if she meant in decimal or in binary, in which case she should have made the question more specific. I guess both answers were technically correct?

Andrew D
You should've asked her to Google it. True. Anyways, in a un-related side note, any idea how to install Paint.NET onto a memory stick when it's already installed on my computer? My ICT teacher is willing to allow me to use it, but as the technicans will never bother installing it, I'll need to have it on a memory stick. Andrew D
Just copy the files over from your Paint.NET folder. I guess that would work, as pretty much the registry records is for the staging filers (required for un-installing) and file types (which dosen't matter much either) In the half-term, I might start trying to learn C# again. It isn't that I stopped, more I didn't have much time for it.

pyrochild
my teacher said that in 30GB's of memory, she took it through that there was 1000 bytes in a kilobyte, 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte, etc. when it should be 1024. kilobyte, megabyte, etc can mean either 1024 or 1000. On hard drive packaging and such things, you'll find in the small print something like 1GB=1,000,000,000. This allows them to make the drives seem bigger than they really are. To avoid confusing, ask for clarification when someone says kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte, etc. In an attempt to reduce confusion, kibibyte, mebibyte, gibibyte, etc. always mean 1024 of the previous, though these sound silly and thus are not a widely accepted convention. They are notated KiB, MiB, GiB. You'll see these some places, but not often. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
