Simon Brown
Would this award plugins or authors? Would people have to specifically enter the competition? And the world "designer" is slightly misleading - I gather you mean author?
Kemaru
Finally. I finished my essay on Shintoism. It was really long (1½ pages  ), and it had 2 smilies., and :? . Blooper
You put a smiley in an essay? Hmm. I wouldn't. Kinda puerile for an essay. Sozo
You put a smiley in an essay?Hmm. I wouldn't. Kinda puerile for an essay. Ironically enough, I just did a presentation in Communications class today about how the internet, chat rooms, and IM's have affected this generation's writing skills. Simon Brown
It would have been even more ironic if it included smilies.
Sozo
It would have been even more ironic if it included smilies. That was one of the things I talked about, how IM speak and the like has begun cropping up in school papers. aeonix
Would this be for new plugins designed by existing designers? No anyone that can compile a half-decent plugin can enter. Would this award plugins or authors? Would people have to specifically enter the competition? And the world "designer" is slightly misleading - I gather you mean author? This would give you the plugin maker of the year award. Yes you would have to enter comp. Here's how you'd enter: 1. Upload your submission on the site, and enter. 2. The forum users would test them for 10 days. 3. After 10 days, I would put up a poll, and whoever has the most votes, wins! aeonix
This a puerile conversation. I need to make a new sig, I've had this one since september. Anyone agree? Quote My Blog|My DeviantART|Last.FM

Simon Brown
Out of interest, is anyone planning forum awards for this year?
BoltBait
I'm thinking of starting a plugin designer of the year, though it would run through January.Of course I wouldn't be entering, but are any of you plugin developers interested? Let me save you the trouble: Ed Harvey wins. Out of interest, is anyone planning forum awards for this year? Yes. I'll put them up sometime later in the month. If you have ideas for new catagories, send them my way. Simon Brown
Let me save you the trouble:Ed Harvey wins. Or Pyrochild (who, of course, won the award) /you. Unless you know that Ed Harvey is working on a plugin that will be ready by January and will delay the release to enter.

TopHATslash
Ed's plugins are superior. Custom Brushes, and smudge are superior. But ED's whole pack is outstanding, every plugin. No offense to any other plugin authors.
Simon Brown
Except that the contest is based on a single plugin.
TopHATslash
Not the plugin author of the year, though.

Simon Brown
Not the plugin author of the year, though. I thought we were referring to Aeronix's idea. :?

pyrochild
what is the purpose of having 2 separate plugin author of the year awards? i see no problem with having a separate competition where the entries are single *new* plugins, but the way you are talking about setting this one up is rather... dumb. Simon Brown
Here is how I understand this: Forum Awards The forum awards will include a plug-in author award which could be based on anything about any of the author's plugins or contributions to plugins. This would be a write-in as per last time. Aeronix's Idea Another competition would be hosted in January in which authors can submit any plugin specifically for it and existing plugins can not be submitted. Users will have 10 days to vote on the plugins by testing them and a certain plugin will win the competition. Am I correct?
pyrochild
Yes, but Aeonix seems to want to call his "Plugin Designer of the Year." Not only is it not a competition for the plugin designer (I assume he means author/programmer), it's not "of the year." Unless he wants this competition to to last all year with voting at the end of next year. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! Simon Brown
I presume he means it in a similar way to this competition - selecting an author as the plugin author of the year rather than the best entry in the year given.
