I'm waiting to hear what new news there is about Phorm - I've heard things about Anti Spyware software which could end up blocking Phorm cookies but who knows.

After all, would you want your ISP to allow a 3rd party company to monitor your browsing habits?

Anyone recommend a free screenshot software? One that could support Vista shadows & clearing transparency.

WindowClippings puts huge watermarks on the pics with unregistered versions so that's a piece of c^w^w^w useless now.

I was going to recommend WindowClippings, it's what I use all the time. Until I read your second line ... c'mon man it's only $18 and there's no lanky anti-piracy measures in place like checking a key server every day etc. :) Plus the guy is a Paint.NET fan (Kenny Kerr)!

Screenshot Software? You know that you can just press the "PrintScrn" key and paste into Paint.NET, right?

I do this all the time and never understood why the hell there are still people who sell programs which can do almost the same for money? The only thing I can imagine is that they save more screenshots in the temporary storage...

Let's ask rick: What specials has window clipping ?

Probably the fact that WC includes the mouse cursor, Prt Scrn takes the screenshot without the mouse cursor.

I was right? That's new... O.o

Yata, you're right, that does sound nice... I prefer to not install any more programs (that I'm not likely to use much) on my computer, though. I have everything from a Memory Editor to a SWF Decompiler (it was necessary for a small VB tutorial, I don't use it much, don't worry), to an AutoClicker.

For one, it handles the Vista transparent window frames, which is what Yata was asking for. Just that feature alone drastically cut down my time to author the Paint.NET help content with all its screenshots.

I'm sorry, what?

I have WindowsClippings, and the cursor is not captured. In fact, as the relevant option is rendered unavailable in my version, there is no chance to include the cursor. Also, and this is me missing something quite obvious, what watermarks? All my captures have been free of any markings whatsoever.

EDIT: I've just updated WC, which has now given me cursor inclusion.

My tutorial was quoted! Yeah, I was cockahoop about that, despite it being done so by some spam-lord extraordinaire. Actually, that tutorial has been indulged in a fair amount (relatively) of hype lately. Okay, two people, three if you count Bugster/Olli, but he's been here long enough not to get excited about it like newer members.

EDITED: too > to: 'tis what I get for butchering sentences and not previewing before posting.

I'm on a student budget so even 18$ is huge. And no access to any method of money transfer.

I would mostly need it to make pretty PDN help images, nothing else really.

I do have to say when will windows Print Screen have options build into it. Every other OS seems to be moving that way. I know when I do a Print Screen in Fedora Linux I got a pop up box with a perview of the screen, options on what format to save in, name I want to give it, and were I would like to store it. I was also looking at the Mac Tips on G4 Tech the other day and even Mac has them options now.

Is there a add on for Windows to do this for free ?, I ask because there are things like Notepad+ and stuff on there website.

The thing with Print Screen is that with something like WindowClippings, you can just get the ready image with just couple mouse clicks and renaming the filename.

With Print Screen, I have to firstly position the window right behind a white background, crop it well, hope the shadow is the same as the other screenies, possibly stitch several pics to the background proper.

So, compare 2 minutes with a nice software to 15-30 min with manual work.

On a completely different topic... :o

Vector I've been fiddling with from low res sources.

Few days ago I saw this.

I can really up the quality of the vector with this :)
