It's surprising how many children are downloading music onto they're PC's from P2P sites etc without giving it a second thought about whether its legal or not in my class.

As for my site, I got a CSS template, and now I'm using that but I've done a "fair amount" of editing to it. (Although I do intend to give credit to the creator!! )

I'm also studying it so my CSS gets sharper if you know what I mean. :P

well wat i think is funny, is if you look out on the internet you can find torrents etc to download anything you want. But once you download it its illegal.

I know someone who claims to have a photoshop cs3 extended keygen. He downloaded that and then downloaded a trial copy of ps from adobe's website and whilst installing he used the keygen and now he's got what seems like a legal copy of PS CS3 EXTENDED (although it is a "cracked" version).

i personally feel that in a few years downloading music and movies, etc will be completely legal. The law is losing the war against music downloads. Musicians are making a lot less money because of it. I think in the near future musicians will go back to going on tour and playing live shows and focusing on shows to make money, the music will almost be like an advertisment.

It is NOT legal, and don't tell ANYONE that it is.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Go back to? That's always been the way bands make real money. Bands make money off of shows, record companies make money off of CD's.

It sort of seemed implied. I just wanted to quash the idea.

Downloading movies/music is really only illegal in the USA. I know for a fact that in Canada that if you download for personal use (essentialy as long as you're not making money off of it) the police won't even bother looking into it or charging you with anything. Although technically "illegal" according to official records, nobody cares. Besides, the Federal Court of Canada made a ruling saying that peer-to-peer file transferring is legal. In summary, if you live in Canada feel free to download as much as you like because in all intents and purposes it is legal.

okay, thanks david.

also, in this day and age bands/record comapines are making less off shows than cds, when you compare it to the past, 50 years ago there was no such thing as a cd, allow cds and records brought in revenue the shows were the big deal. today, atleast around where i live, its not quite the same, most people i know havent been to more than 2 concerts in ther entire lives. althought bands/record companies still probally make more from shows than cds, its not like it used to be.

that's true, thats part of it that makes in seem misleading. people from other countries can post illegal music etc if they want, and americans can see it on the web, yet its illegal to download.

Yup. Although from what I've noticed the US is the only country with a bug up its butt in this issue (not counting didcatorship countries).

That's one view.

Or, you could say that the US is the only country willing to protect the intellectual property rights of the individual creators of said property.

I prefer the latter.

haha theres always some one who has to pooh on our parade smileguy1.gif

lol

Beginning of week drain would be my guess. Most people hate Mondays/Tuesdays and as a result are less productive and/or creative.

As do most Americans. Besides, I thought it was about the love of music and acting and not about the money? If you're making the music because you love people hearing your music, who cares if you lose some money here and there from piraters? Overall money lost from people who download is a drop in the bucket compared to what they make. And like it was stated before, the artists, the people who actually are the owners of the intellectual property, only make an incrediably small fraction on CD sales. People who download music hear a wider array of music and are more inclined to go see more concerts, which is how the bands make the majority of their money.

In actuality though studies have shown that people who download music actually end up spending more on audio CD's than people who don't. What downloading lets you do is weed through the bloody potato to find the stuff you like.

Open up your mind and allow other possibilities. Just because 1%-3% of all listeners are downloading music doesn't make it evil. In fact it's hardly noticable.
