The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

I had an idea: A stock image sub forum

Much like the Plugins and Tutorials section of the forum, users could post stock images that are royalty free for the rest of the PdN community. Just a random thought, and I am sure this would be loads over more viable once the new pictorium is in to place. What are your thoughts?

No. There are already many sites with royalty free images. Lets keep this forum about PDN.

This was brought up in another thread (although I was already going to bring it up)...

I never understood the logic behind the "This is not a tech support forum" rule. I like Rick's way of thinking and most of the time I agree with him, but the logic behind it always escaped me.

Is it because of the chance of someone being wrong and messing something up? Or is there an entirely different motive to having it in place.

If it's that, Rick could just post a disclaimer at the top saying that he nor his members can be responsible for advice given.

Personally, I'd love to talk about tech here more and help others with it.

If we do IMHO it should just be a thread because you don't really need to comment on stock images.

I'm not sure if this is what Mike means, but if there was a thread for each user then it would be more organized, and also, people won't get overlooked as much.

Keep the forum simple. Adding useless cowbell forums is just as bad as adding cowbell features to programs. (Using Rick's blogpost about cowbell here).

Now, another forum for the pictoriom would be good, because we have a lot of members here who post their work and it is directly related to Paint.NET.

Yes I do agree with that - in fact I suggested the idea be reconsidered. A stock image forum would be different - people wouldn't need to have feedback on their work (they could post it in the pictorium for that) so such a thread would probably be for publishing only.

There are several different sites which are perfect for that: Wikimedia Commons ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/ ), MorgueFile ( http://www.morguefile.com/ ), Stock.xchng ( http://sxc.hu ), and the list goes on. We don't need one, and we don't want one.

Making a stock image subforum creates a great deal of intractable problems we mods don't want to deal with: the appropriateness of images is one. Copyrights are a big one. How could we verify - on every single image that would ever be posted - that it is, indeed, licensed for use as a stock image?

No. No. A million times no. If you want to post your own stocks, use deviantART.

Should there an "Remake Members To South-Park Characters" Thread?

It'll be locked faster than you can blink. :-)
