Simon Brown
Anyway, apart from better security, with the release of IE7 ages ago. Firefox is brilliant - but not essential.

MattBlackLamb
I know that there has been a certain amount of resistance about all the new contests but I think the one I'm about to propose is different enough to warrant a certain amount of consideration. The Idea A collaboration contest, it would take a bit of organising to get groups but I feel it would be worth it. Different groups after every 2 or 3 contests would give people a chance to work with more people but save the extra hassle of organising groups during / after every contest. The groups (2 - 4 people) would have to create an image that follows a theme, if they want to meet up to do this they can but it's not mandatory & they can send .PDN files back & forth as they wish. At the moment this is a very sketchy idea so any thoughts or improvements would be appreciated. So, what do people think? Quote dA Son, someday you will make a girl happy for a short period of time. Then she'll leave you & be with men that are ten times better than you can imagine. These men are called musicians.

Simon Brown
It might help if we registered a da chatroom for each group. But what is the advantage with groups anyway?

MattBlackLamb
@ SaBrown, All the contests on here involve the individual making something, a group making something would make things interesting as you could use your team members strong points, to create the parts of the image that they would be good at (borders or whatever). It's just an idea at the moment, if everyone hates it then it won't happen, simple as that. @ Mike, people would need to exchange email addresses / IM details so that they could discuss what they wanted to do. Bobofthedead
It sounds like a very good idea! Getting people to work together instead of against the world. It sounds like fun! Simon Brown
Would this be a seperate project or in the pdn forum? If its own it needs its own forum.
Mike Ryan
I think a seperate forum would be extremely helpful. This is what I am thinking: Create a new forum with a thread for finding a team. Once a team of four or five is created, a new subforum is created for only those members to use. Also, I think these need to be extremly big projects. Like the MSC Operating System with multiple screenshots and all.
MattBlackLamb
All the groups would be public (everyone would know who was with who) & as I stated above, people would have to share contact details (IM or Email) or they can just PM each other. I don't see the need for a new forum, the mods don't need any more work, two threads will be more than sufficient (one for entries & one for discussion & finding team mates). I already run a forum & don't want another one on my hands & I'm sure that Rick, BoltBait, Dan, Ash & David don't want another forum on here to read through. I am talking about a completely seperate forum on a seperate server. I was also talking about discussion threads for simply the members, not about keeping the details of each group private. If you attempt to keep this closed to PMs and Emails, I dont think this competition will be a success.
Simon Brown
What shall we call the contest? Then we can create a forum for it. By the way, I suggest freephpbb3.com. Edit: And like I said, a seperate forum with a private sub-forum for each team.
Mike Ryan
I recommend Zymic that way you have control about every aspect of the forum, and can add more information. In fact, I can host the forum for you on my Zymic account.
Simon Brown
It would be better to create a new zymic account. And we need the admin to be someone in no group.
MattBlackLamb
I never intended this to go outside the Paint.NET forum, if this is gonna go crazy with a new forum then the likelihood is that I won't bother signing up to the forum to participate. If this is well organised on here it will work, another forum for one contest is overkill if you ask me. Quote dA Son, someday you will make a girl happy for a short period of time.
