Myrddin
The Sanctuary[/url]":h7q8ql2j]Doctor Who, Series Three, Episode 10. "Blink."So spooky. So creepy. I LOVE it. :-) I've seen it twice and it still keeps me on the edge of my seat. "They're coming. The Angels are coming for you, but listen - your life could depend on this - don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast, faster than you could believe. DON'T turn your back, DON'T look away, and DON'T BLINK. Good luck." Such a good episode, easily one of the best. What do you think to the series so far then? How does it compare with S2? Rubrica
I agree, that's a superlative episode. Very nerve racking, and the trick at the end was quite clever (as in I didn't see it coming).

david.atwell
Such a good episode, easily one of the best. What do you think to the series so far then? How does it compare with S2? Agreed. Well, I think I like the episodes themselves better - it's pretty well-written, and they're a little darker (especially "Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords," which I finished seven hours ago :-)). It's nice to see things advancing and becoming more dangerous. "Blink" takes the whole thing to a new level. I never knew it could be that phenomenal. And you know how I felt about DW before that episode! ;-) I'm not sure about Martha, though. A very likable character, but for some reason, they never got me to like her as much as I liked Rose. Granted, Rose was around for two series, while Martha was only in the picture for one, but I still felt like they left her a bit underdeveloped. Maybe that was intentional - Martha is going to Torchwood and all, and Rose's departure still so fresh in mind, such a deep pain. I guess I sort of feel a bit like Rose did when the Doctor regenerated. "The Doctor, the real Doctor, the proper Doctor wouldn't do this..." :-) "The Companion, the real Companion, the proper Companion wouldn't do this..." And...well, it might be wishful thinking, but...I know Donna will be back for the next season, but I can't shake the feeling that we haven't seen the last of Rose Tyler yet. Anyway, "Blink" has made it onto my all-time favorite DW Ep List, alongside "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" ("Everybody lives, Rose! Just this once, everybody lives!"), "The Impossible Planet/The Satan Trap" ("Right, I accept your existence..."), "Army of Ghosts/Doomsday" ("I'm burning up a sun just to say goodbye..."), and "Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords" ("Still think they're a degenerate race now?"). I agree, that's a superlative episode. Very nerve racking, and the trick at the end was quite clever (as in I didn't see it coming). I was watching the end, and thinking, "Aw, now that's just mean..." I think I have a bit of a complex now. "Don't even blink..." EDIT: Yikes, a novel. Come on, guys, you should know better than to get me started...;-) Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... Myrddin
I'm not sure about Martha, though. Maybe that was intentional - Martha is going to Torchwood and all, and Rose's departure still so fresh in mind, such a deep pain. I know what you mean. Also, and this is the only thing that let the series down in my opinion, she's the new companion. That means the Doctor has to go through the whole rigmarole of introducing all the little things of his lifestyle again. Although Martha has done quite well as the companion; she's done better on her first series than Rose did on hers. The 'loved-up' arc to her character could have been toned down just a bit, but then it didn't ruin the series for me and is still a cracking one, nonetheless. I miss Rose, though. I unfortunately can't go into too much detail as my DVDs have been 'lost' in the post and I'm awaiting for the cut-off point before I can claim them as such and ask for a redispatch of my order - nothing to do with Play.com, as always the Royal Mail is the hindrance - so I can't recall many of the finer moments. Having said that, I do believe that S3 is either on par with or slightly ahead of S2 in my views. However, as each series has some form of restart in them (S1 - new Doctor/companion; S2 - new Doctor; S3 - new companion) each can't be compared on the same merits as the one preceding it, therefore it boils down to story rather than character which should dictate favouritism, reason for S3 parring S2. I do remember this, though: Professor Yana opening the pocketwatch-timepiece with the accompanying instrumental music has been the only time I have ever had a shiver run down my spine because of a television show. Classic moment. Quote How to Save Your Images under Different File Types My dA Gallery
