uH had a vision, he went for it, and it took off. :D

By the way, I'm incredibly impressed with Ubuntu. The interface is Linux-y but friendly, and most importantly, my Windows NTFS drives were mounted on startup and shortcuts placed on my desktop automatically. Full marks so far. :)

...I'm posting from Ubuntu live-CD right now while it's installing in the background...

Yay! Have a 12-Pack:

I just installed the All-In-One Sidebar and I'm starting to change the settings. I see that it has many uses, but I don't think I'll be using it much. My favorite part of it is the extra, unrelated options that they have (like the ability to place buttons in the status bar).

I've been using that, and I find it priceless!

It's been occasionally handy for the past few weeks of use especially when I was fiddling with themes and extensions to convince my parents to switch to FF2. It doesn't take that much room up neither particularly when in the Slim Bar mode and it's very cool for taskbar real estate. Although, sometimes it doesn't minimise fully which can be a tad annoying.

im really confused....i want ubuntustudio for all the editing programs, but the online 'which linux is for you' test decided the best one for me is Kubuntu. Xubuntu seems really efficient and plain ubuntu is simplest.

WHICH ONE!?

In answer to MRavioli's question:

I think plain Ubuntu would be an easy choice. It's pretty simple, an similar enough to the windows style of doing things that you won't be completely in the dark. Plus It's widely used and has a large support base (as far as I've been able to tell) and lots of software support.

CURSE YOU UBUNTU!!!

Dangling your sweet ndiswrapper-meats in front of me, then pulling them away at the last second...

I am disheartened. v_v

I've tried doing a make on the downloadable tarball which throws errors every time it tries to initiate the new drivers. I tried using atp-get install for ndiswrapper-utils, only to be told that it's been supplanted by ndiswrapper-common. So I get install ndiswrapper-common, and it says I have the most recent version. So I try to pass the .inf of my card's driver to ndiswrapper, and it says there is no version of ndiswrapper present on my computer!

Sometimes I get the feeling Linux isn't worth the trouble...

I love grapes...

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Fast and furious commenting going on...craziness. I can't even type that fast.
