copy merge = photoshop's apply image?. If so, it's a really great function I've been hoping to get for some time. flatten+copy+undo on 16mp images is somewhat processor-heavy!

Paint.NET 4.0 really looks like a major update. I can't wait!

Will the layer blending be able to be applied to individually affect certain layers? Because I often use the layer blending to get a look I like but when I merge it it blends differently.

I'm not sure what you mean.

When you merge two layers together with different blend modes (or rather, if the top layer is anything but Normal), then you will "lose" certain blending effects because the two layers' blending modes can't be combined (mathematically speaking this is probably possible, but not in Paint.NET, it'd require the ability to dynamically generate new blend modes which were combinations of the stock blending modes). So, "Merge Down" only does what would be considered the proper thing when the top layer is set to Normal blending mode. Anything else will result in a change to the way the full image appears.

As for the tools' new blending modes, it is a setting for the tool when you're drawing with it and affects how it blends into the layer's existing pixels. Nothing more. Has nothing to do with the layer properties.

What I would love to see is simply the ability to link two or more layers together so you can move those elements around the image without the hassle of having to line them up again. No merging , copying or pasting involved.

It's done. Finally! After RMAs and hours of troubleshooting, I found the one little jumper switch that enabled everything to boot up and work just fine. Silly Intel Management Engine firmware. I had to set it to "recovery mode," but I don't care about tracking my corporation's PCs outside of my network or when they're not powered up, so there's no real loss.

2x Intel Xeon E5-2687W

Asus Z9PE-D8 WS motherboard

32GB DDR3-1600 RAM

Intel 520 SSD 240GB for C: drive (new)

Intel 310 SSD 300GB for D: drive (old) (this is where the paint.net source code lives)

EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (reused, no need to upgrade)

Corsair AX850 power supply (new, 850W)

RAM is cheap though. I'm tempted to go all the way to 64GB!

Good idea, but I wouldn't hold your breath. 4.0 is at the point where any features have to be of the "it can't ship without this" type, so that I can finish it up this year.

Nice setup. Looks like a build I looked up recently...

I'm thinking of making ALL of my posts look like this. Should I?
