Is it the icons in the upper right-hand corner, the zoom in the lower right-hand corner, or the fact that the history and tools windows (and I'm guessing that will include the color and layers windows) are now more....fixed..... in the main window with a sleeker look to them.

Haha true. I should've been more specific. I really meant the selection modes are now 5 buttons instead of 1 dropdown. Ed Harvey thought it'd be more discoverable that way, and I agree.

Is there going to be the option to select multiple layers for things like moving selections? Because one of the things I run into is where I have a layer with an object and a layer with that objects glow (or some other effect) and I need to move both layers together so I don't mess up the alignment, but I don't want to merge because I still want to work with them separately.

Edit: Oops nevermind, Goonfella already posted about this.

My workaround for moving objects on individual layers is to use the panelling plugin (actually I rolled my own much simpler plugin).

You can repeat the 'move' with Ctrl + F on each layer.

The Panelling plugin is a big part of my workflow. What is your simpler plugin?

Speaking of rolling one's own version of a plugin, I want to rewrite the aging Align Object plugin. The 1px offset in both directions can be quite irritating.

KrisVDM has done a rethink of the Align Object plugin. Find it in his pack here: clicky

My plugin can be found in this set of unreleased Stereogram plugins: Stereogram Betas.

Edit: No it isn't. I seem to have subsequently removed it. I'll PM you the codelab source later today (it's very simple).

Thanks for the link to KrisVDM's version. It aligns without a 1px offset. And I look forward to the CodeLab source later today.

Lately, I've been thinking about what awareness is. More specifically, I've been wondering what happens after death. We know that all bodily functions stop, but what does it feel like to the mind? Do you feel anything after you stop feeling? Even though I don't believe in an afterlife, it's difficult to accept that you just stop thinking altogether.

That's because there is life after death. Animals don't have souls, we do. You don't just stop thinking. Your body perishes but you, your soul and being, will remain.

I think the awareness fades away. Much like the way it does when you slip into sleep, or under general anesthetic.

Do you feel anything after you stop feeling?

You have answered yourself there

Even though I don't believe in an afterlife, it's difficult to accept that you just stop thinking altogether.

I do not have this difficulty. I think you do just stop, and stop completely: physically, mentally, gymnastically - you name it! Or to use one of my favorite quotes "Game over man".

I see. I respect your view on the matter, but I do disagree.

EER: I know :) I didn't mean that I think life after death might be possible, just that right now the idea of this state of consciousness stopping at some point is somewhat overwhelming.

in other news, I ran 11km today :) And it wasn't even exhausted, just a little bit tired. :D

You're young. At that age, life seems to be stretching out in front of you with no end in sight. Trust me - I used to think like you.

I'm middle aged now (there's no denying it). I'm more than half way through my life. My view has a different aspect because of this. I'm sure that you too will view life differently as you age. So enjoy!

In other News:

I ran only 8km yesterday, but it was offroad and included river crossings - I convinced myself that this was acceptable!

Last weekend I did a half marathon (offroad). Finished in 1h 43min - 116th in a field of 500.

Miss you too! Your signatures were one of the highlights whenever I'd visit the Pictorium.

That it does. Just over four years for me, I would have been 13 when I registered. It's weird to think this forum and its members were a part of me growing up. But things change, as I notice I've made 15 posts in the last 12 months, no longer see members I used to enjoy talking to, and no longer even have Paint.NET installed on my computer :/

I bumped the dual Xeon up to 64GB (was 32GB) ... now I can create an image that's the max size Paint.NET allows! Even the icon in the status bar next to "65535 x 65535" is getting squished :)

And 4.0 is using less RAM than I thought it would. Only 32GB instead of 48GB! Version 3.5.10 does use all the way up to 48GB though. And it uses significantly more CPU time to get anything done. Yikes ... looks like it's trying to go all the way up to 64GB just after doing File->New. Definitely a big win for memory usage in 4.0.

I haven't forgotten you, Sozo. :)

I remember you from when you're name was still Commander Sozo.
