It's not overpriced, just high priced because it's the top quality, for those that want it / can afford it.

Take noise cancelation, other cheaper brands work great for their price, but bose is like you cant hear anything else!

plus i think the fact that noise cancelation can be turned on/off is handy too!

To each his own, i guess though. Right?

No. You are wrong.

Bose is a far cry from "the top quaity." There are many companies that offer higher quality equipment, and a lot of it can be had for less money. Of course, some of the true audiophile gear can also be much much more expensive, too.

So true. I've been to a Bang & Olufsen store before. It was just me and my dad, so we convinced the sales clerk to crank up a pair of these babies: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beolab5

I've never heard such beautiful speakers in my life. Better than Bose any day. Of course, they also cost more than the average car...

@Boltbait: Yeah, they are expensive. Thankfully I got mine as a gift, then turned them in 2 years later and upgraded for $60. So not too bad. :)

Can someone post American terms after? I wonder if they vary from state to state...

English Terms: (approx. dates)

Autumn Term: September 1/7 - December 15

Spring Term: January 4th - March 30th

Summer Term: April 26 - July 20th

With one week holidays halfway tgrough each term. :)

It not only varies by state, it varies by school district in the USA. The approximate dates for a standard two-semester system are as follows:

Fall Semester: Mid-August through Mid-December

Spring Semester: Early January through Late May

Summer school is rare for schools with that sort of schedule. Some school districts follow the trimester format, which ends up being more like TheHowler's list, while so-called "Year-Round" school sounds a lot like the Australian format that Sfifer posted. I went to a school that had a standard ("classic") two-semester schedule.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Australia and New Zealand have submitted their proposal to host the Square Kilometre Array.

The Square Kilometre Array will be the most powerful radio telescope ever built and is estimated to cost about €1.5 billion.

The telescope will consist of several thousand dishes up to 5,500 kilometres apart, working as a single telescope and if Australasia wins the hosting rights, will be spread over the two countries with about two out stations likely in New Zealand. Each station will require about 30 to 40 dishes of about 15 metres in diameter, which will transmit about 160 gigabits per second to a central processing core.

Hah! Only 160 gigabit/sec/station, chicken feed....

I'm hearing that the SKA will generate so much data that IBM are in discussions to build a new super computer just to deal with the information influx.

Nope, I meant 250. And, in final exams if you go over 300 your points are reduced... :--(

Weird system. Here you're penalized for the contrary. Though word-restrictions only apply for Language classes, in other subjects you're pretty much on your own, but writing lots and lots is still implicity encouraged. It is penalized if you do go off-topic in History essays, for instance.

^ Good point.

I've always wanted to learn to program. Not necessarily something too useful or anything, but something that could help build my knowledge a bit of how computers and programs work. But I have no idea where to even start. And considering I'm only 14, I'm kinda lost for thoughts on it. So, I thought some of the guys out in the PdN Forums might have been in my position before. Does anyone have any helpful tips?

I do an IPT class at school and we're learning Visual Basic and it is by far the most confusing stuff ever. Definitely not my cup of tea.
