I wish it was summer in Arkansas...=) I miss summer...

Although this summer, we had like 20 days of over 100F(38C) weather and very little rain. I think the Feds actually just declared all of Ark a possible natural disaster area because of the droughts. lol

As far as snow goes, it's pretty, but I prefer to stay inside with hot apple cider of cocoa and watch from my window. =D

This is old news, but has anyone heard of Guillermo Vargas and his controversial art? In 2007 he tied a famished dog to a gallery wall and wrote "You are what you read" in dog food and in Spanish on the wall. He also burnt lots of cocaine and marijuana I think and played some odd music. After the dog allegedly starved to death the artist became the topic of a huge controversy. The artist claims that the dog was fed regularly (according to wikipedia... I can't check the sources since it's in Spanish).

Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.

What is NASA up to?

You may have heard that NASA is making an announcement Thursday (Friday pacific time) on the subject of extraterrestrial intelligence.

Speculation appears to range from...,

“We’ve found one and here he/she/it is”

to...,

“We’re going to start looking harder”

Place your bets…., I'm hoping for actual, real, tangible ALIENS!

I'm guessing that they've finally found amazon women on the moon.

Actually, I'm betting they reveal that the movie District 9 really was a documentary.

Of course, they might just be sending a probe to one of Saturn's ice moons to look for sea life under the ice.

No. No. no. We introduced life to the earth as part of our plan....,

Cannot believe NASA got me excited over that boltbait.sad.png . I should have been true to my cynical nature. I was.....so.....hopeful.

OK, I know this is a bit of a weird question, but does anyone here have any experience with publishing books/ As in, using an actual publisher, not just self-publishing. Turns out that I live very near the office for Templar Publishing, part of the Bonnier group, and they specialise in books like mine (i.e., young adult/children's). I'm not that fond of some of their books, but they do have some very good books to their name.

A friend of mine published his regional history via a publisher here in New Zealand. It degenerated into a very unpleasant experience.

Moral: get everything you expect of your publisher written down in black and white so there are no hidden costs or unpleasant surprises. Treat this as a contract - because it is.

The more background research you can do on the proposed publisher the better. Find some Authors in the publishers stable and ask them what there experience was like.
