Amish Paradise is good.

*dramatic symphony music begins and begins a crescendo*

No! Don't bring that one up! GaaaahH!

*silence*

*uH starts recalling the lyrics*

No! Now I got the song stuck in my head!

So, I was perusing the unread posts and whatnot, and I came upon this topic (Cool Wall Paper). This thread got me a-thinking:

Why on earth would anyone make a single-image tutorial?

Firstly, it cuts down searchability to 0. You can't add an "alt" tag to that image in the BBCode, and search parsers can't read text in images, so anyone looking for an effect clearly outlined in your tutorial wouldn't have a prayer of finding it in a search. Not that anyone actually searches, but...

Secondly, the image in that example is almost 900KB! Large images make dial-up users slit their ankles out of desperation and despair. I used to be one of them...

The only possible benefit I could see would be anti-piracy, but seriously, this is a free program we're all using here. In the Hippie-esque spirit of unity and togetherness, shouldn't all resources be provided freely as well?

I know there are several others that follow this method, so I'm by no means blaming this particular one of anything. It merely raised the question in my mind...

So, discuss. >_>

I don't think it was that bad of an idea. It's just one image and not a collage of disorganized screenshots. And while you're looking at one step, the rest of the page is loading. I could barely keep up (by scrolling down) with the loading progress. It's also the preferred way to submit tutorials on DeviantArt.

And as the great aatwo said:

beware, uH, Beware! It is not wise to anger a moderator, .

No no no no no no.

Were I to abuse mod power to retaliate for a personal disagreement, Rick would rip my magic mod-carpet out from under me faster than you could say "The Plaid Razzleflabbenz Finds His Tune."

Edit

@EvilNeko: Always happy to provide something to smile at! :D

And always UN-happy to end sentences in prepositions... >_>

*cries profusely*

Well, seeing as my internet has been down for the past few hours, I just got fed up with waiting. This late at night, there is simply nothing else to do. When my ISP was Adelphia, reliability was bad enough, but since Comcast acquired them, it's like 75% uptime...

edit: it's their fault for not encrypting!

That it is, that it is. I can't blame you though, form what I hear, Comcast is not that good. I gotta deal with BrightHouse, but thats just cheaper for me..they get pretty good but very slow every once in awhile...and if you ever go searching with a laptop, you will find that a -ton- of people never use WEP networks.

You know, BoltBait has done that to me... he deleted one of my posts to become the first reply to a topic....
