The <off topic> thread

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has a weird hobby. If he's in a restroom and notices some guy use the toilet and leave without washing his hands... he follows him out, takes his picture with a cell phone, and posts it on a web site. He includes a nice write up including where the offending behavior took place.

How wrong is that?

BoltBait, that friend of yours need a new hobby. That's kinda funny because I cringe whenever I see people using the johns but don't wash their hands afterward and return to work. I work in a manufacturing plant, but all the same, personal hygiene should be taken care of before returning to work.

Frontcannon, what on earth are you talking about? Something to rebel against? I was a teenager once, and if there wasn't something to rebel against, I'll find something to rebel against.

If the act of rebelling isn't recognised as such it doesn't count. You can refuse to eat meat or wear extravagant clothes but who still is shocked by that today?

My parents certainly aren't.

I think it's important for someone in their young ages to find something that clearly distinuishes him from the grown-up crowd. It just matters in the process of forming your "adult" identity. If nobody cares about your effort of distancing yourself from the others... some people then resort to very extreme methods. Just take a look at gangster culture.

Youth crime is getting more and more violent. Some months ago they kicked an old man to death in Munich because he asked them to stop smoking in the subway.

It's a cruel example, but it shows best what I mean by 'they don't care'.

GW, no disrespect, but seriously... who wants to listen to a 17-year-old ramble on about how bad school is?

THANK YOU for not writing a blog.

You're welcome BoltBait. I'm not sure if that comment was directed towards me or towards my age group. Though, I don't think I complain much about how bad school is (I could be wrong...). I have had multiple blogs, one on WordPress.com, webs.com, and blogger.com. Since you started about blogs, I also decided to start another with some adsense involved. I will keep this blog tutorial content, with examples on how to create art with any graphics program, mainly Paint.NET or Inkscape. Maybe I'll make a few dollars in a couple of years. boltbait.lol.png

I don't know why, but I've tried doing blogs and don't feel a need to keep them updated. I guess I don't like writing about myself or other things much...

Well, mine's not a blog; I forgot to rename it, and I'm just using wordpress as a base. It's more like a showcase for my art.

Same comment; I have acknowledged that, and also that it would be even more boring to listen to an 11 year old ramble on about how good school is.

Off-topic; does anyone know of a free webhost that allows outbound connections? I've only been able to find paid sites.

From what I had read, BP has offered to pay for the oil spill. It is becoming difficult to stop the spread of oil slick due to the high wind and choppy sea. The barrier that's made to contain the oil slick is snapping. It takes a whole lot of effort to contain oil spill, think of Exxon Valdez oil spill, and multiple it by a few factor, and it'll give you a good idea of what's facing the clean up crew. The US military is getting involved with the clean up effort.

To sum it up, it takes time! There's no such thing as instant fix to a disaster of this magnitude. Calm down and get off your high horse.

You should get the Win7 theme for XP. Then get the rest of Win7. Then uninstall XP. Then it'll really look nice. ~ David Atwell
