Just heard that Facebook has hit 350 million users. That's 115% the population of the United States, or a monumental 19.1% of the world population

Yeah...if Facebook was a country, it would be the third largest on the planet.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

That's shocking, actually. I use it, but 19.1% of the world? That's really extreme.

On another note: There's a bee in my classroom. I can hear it. Can't for the life of me see it though.

This WolframAlpha computational knowledge engine is ingenious. I mean, just look at the various examples it can take

As a bit of an intellectual junkie, I could spend a lot of time just playing around with it, from inputting elements, weather requests, titles of movies and historical dates just to see what pops up. Best of all, it helps me with these pesky derivatives for AP Calculus step-by-step. Great study tool.

I guess I'm just happy that I was able to actually understand my derivative homework after using it right now :)

Note to self: don't procrastinate on final projects until the night before they're due anymore.

Heh. About three years ago, I procrastinated on a semester-long project, doing literally nothing until the night before. And I worked the day before, so I couldn't do anything until after I got off work, at 3pm. I went home, took a nap, and woke up at 5. Ate dinner, and left for campus. There, I locked myself in the 24-hour computer lab, working non-stop from about 7pm until the last sheet of the paper rolled out of the printer at 8:55am. I speedwalked it over to the class, which started at 9, claimed illness (not far from the truth and easy to fake, since I looked like death after being up all night), and left straightaway. I don't remember anything else about that day...

Anyway, at the beginning of the next semester, I got the paper back. I got a B+ (or A-, I can't remember exactly). The note on there? "Excellent work. It's obvious you put a lot of time into this."

Oh yeah. Lots of time. 14 hours. At once. :-)

I've done that with essays. Not 14 hours, though. Maybe 4. It's funny, getting the "you must have put a lot of time into this" comment. Keep believin' it, teach!

Unrelated: Holy. Hell. This is the hottest curry ever! I'm tempted to make a BLT (once I finish this delicious curry), in the belief it will toast itself as I bite it.

I remember once procrastinating on a final project for a 2D animation class. I didn't have any ideas, didn't like anything I tried to force, and as such, ended up not doing anything on it until the morning of the day it was due (the class was at 6pm).

I walked into the computer lab at 8am, started working, and all of a sudden everything just clicked. Fueled by panic and energy drinks, it ended up being one of the funniest things I've ever created, and the instructor asked to keep a copy as an example for future students. ;)

You should share this "one of the funniest things I've ever created" with us :D

I'll see what I can do - it was a course in Macromedia Director of all things, so it's not exactly the most portable format. I should be able to convert it into something else though, with a screen recorder if nothing else.

JERBERT!!!

Yeah, my web host went down earlier for some reason or another, so instead of leaving it as "Image" and making pages load forever just to get a timeout anyway, I figured I'd change it to an old one I had stored on my Photobucket. ;)

Ugh. Earlier today I speedwrote a four page essay in one hour. Now I'm taking all night to write up article summaries / a reading journal for my contemporary issues class. Seriously a bummer. Looks like Project 86 will be keeping me company.

I've still got work to do...

I tried one of those 5-Hour Energy things, but I haven't noticed an effect yet. Now I'm trying some Ross Noble on in the background. ;)

Ew. Ew ew ew ew ew. Tea. Or coffee. Energy drinks and energy shots are the most disgusting things ever designed for human consumption.

Lol. I caved in at 3. I needed sleep.

If I hadn't finished within a half hour or so of when I did, I'd have just skipped calc today to finish it. But, dammit! I should have at least waited till this morning to submit it. I just remembered the thing that was going to make it, at least visually, improve from "threw this together in 4 hours" to "spent the whole semester on the design."

bah sleep is for the weak lol! i normally go 36 hours without sleep regularly.

Sleep deprivation is a one way ticket to temporary psychosis.
