Well you can turn that off with a few clicks of a button. Actually, the frequency of UAC prompts goes down over time. When I was running a beta build of vista until it expired, it was at the point where the only actions that would pop a uac were turning uac on and off, installing new programs, and viruses trying to eat me =) all in all, once it goes down a bit (although that takes longer than id like), uac is actually helpful. but the boot time for vista is what really kills me. 6 minutes to reboot? usedHONDA
I used to have booting problems with my old computer. At first, it was taking about 10 minutes, but then it suddenly jumped to 30, then reached its peak at 45.... then my computer died. I was working on a school project, and i smelled a burning coming from the case. I opened it up and the slave hard drive was on fire. Yanked the plug from the wall, poured my water on it. Nothing else was damaged though... not even from the water. I still have little melted pieces of the platter. How strange. Enormator
XP with DX10 library How can I get this? Didn't Microsoft say something like: You buy Vista or you won't get DX10 support and you won't be able to play any new games and there will be no security fixes for XP no more...? If I could get DX10 work on XP, I'd probably keep it up until the security stop starts. Quote :Link: website

pyrochild
Didn't XP have some of those problems at its start? naahhhhh up until vista, every win ver i've installed always had a faster boot time when compared to the previous ver on the same box. but on this one, xp is about 30 seconds as compared to vista taking almost 6 minutes (but that was a beta build, it might be SLIGHTLY improved now) and yes, this box meets all the specs for "Vista Premium Ready" I want my 20GB partition back in C! Yata
Didn't XP have some of those problems at its start? naahhhhh Actually, when I first got XP, there was a major security problem (with all the XP's sold) and needed patches for windows... there's always bugs, inevitable.
