Helio
NASA World Wind 1.4 (http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/) I just downloaded this yesterday, it is impressive. It's a program that projects to you a 3d model of the earth, where you can zoom in anywhere on the globe and view images taken from a satellite. I was able to find and view my house, I could even see my neighbor's car parked on the street. It's a 16MB download, here are some of the other specs. [*:ef533] Windows 2000, or XP[*:ef533] Intel Pentium 3, 1 GHz, or AMD Athlon or higher[*:ef533] 256 MB of RAM[*:ef533] 3D Graphics Card [*:ef533] See video card compatibility list at http://www.worldwindcentral.com/wiki/Vi ... patibility [*:ef533] DSL / Cable connection or faster [*:ef533] 2 GB of disk space You can even view satellite images of natural disasters, that happened between certain time periods that you specify. Enjoy! Quote v An excellent open–source strategy game—highly recommended. "I wish I had never been born," she said. "What are we born for?" "For infinite happiness," said the Spirit. usedHONDA
Google earth also has an embedded web browser. In reality, Google beats all of its competitors. MS Visual Earth is in 2nd because of its higher quality images. Other than that, you can't really come close to Google. Not even Yahoo. EDIT: Well the screenshots look alright, so I'll try it out. I just hope they used their "Blue Marble" satellite images. usedHONDA
Okay, I checked it out and I like the UI. The top looks like Mac's dock icon thing. But unfortunately, the entire city is in a night stage! I can hardly see! But I do like all of the maps that they give you. BTW, they use Yahoo as one of their address searchers EDIT: Ah! I'm looking at another map (USGS Topo) and my house (or any of the streets withing a 1 mile radius) doesn't exist! You know what that means? It means that that map hasn't been updated for 10 years! Helio
[*:6c192] 2 GB of disk space Please don't tell me that's how much space it takes No, it's a 16MB download, but it caches images from the internet. uH: You can change the time, from the past, to about four hours to present. Also, you can change the light exposure, from the natural shadow on one side of the globe, to light everywhere. ----- BTW, this is my last post until Sunday. See y'all then!
