oma
8/10. I like it a lot (I'm guessing photoshop?), but it's a bit blurry nope all paint.net. just learned how to do the orb and cube and shadow and background text and gradiants from tuts this past month. think its blury because I made it much larger and then lost a lot due to resizing and saving as a jpg. Bossk The Wizard Lizard
oma, I like the orb 8/10  bossk, I don't know if you have an avatar, or if my browser is just messed up Yep, I don't have an avatar because I don't know how to make one. GangstaCrab
j@ ncfan: just a smaller circle on top of a larger circle, with linear gradients in opposite directions @ bossk: just (almost) any image, just as long as it isn't wider than 100 pixels
FireFly
I like it 8.5/10. I hope everyone likes my new avatar, the red-orb-in-a-chrome-ring style one.
oma
Yep, I don't have an avatar because I don't know how to make one its a wee little baby sized picture! 100 x 100 I think uploaded to something like photobucket then link to thru profiles. ( hint make your canvas size a bit bigger and scale back size using image resize button....just don't go too much bigger or you loose a lot of detail when you size down) give her a go pick a tut and just make anything you';ll be addicted same as the rest of us in about 10 mins. good luck on your first avatar. the hardest part is making a choice of what to put up. and don't worry the critique is part of the learning process. a good learning experience and a way to sharpen your technique skills. Firefly 9/10 love the chrome circle gotta try this any tips. chow OMA Quote My Deviant Art Gallery Oma's Paint.Net gallery

Myrddin
Yata: really cool, can appear a bit too blurry but I think it works well, 8 or 9/10. These two I've been working on are variations of my current one, but please bear in mind that the picture of the dude is not mine, but the effects created with them are done by me. This one, as you can see, utilises the antique picture tut by Helio. This one did use the principle of the 3D box by BuzzKill with a small twist, I do prefer this one. usedHONDA
@Myrddin: I would go for the antique one, thought I don't know what to rate it. @Firefly: 9.8/10 It looks really nice, but: The areas in the white rectangle are the only things bothering me. I think it's a little too much. Maybe if you do a radial blur or something, I would give it a 10. Yata
I would say stay with your current one or use the 3D one. I think the antique looks great, but is also too dull in the ways of color. Myrddin
I agree Yata, but then Myrddin is an old legend which is why antique came to mind. Hmm, much pondering is needed. Quote How to Save Your Images under Different File Types My dA Gallery

Crazy Man Dan
@Myrddin: Do you still have the layered PDN for the antiqued one? There is one thing I'd try messing with on that one, if you do: the shadow under the page curl effect. Take the Gradient tool in Transparency mode, and fade the shadow out to the upper-left, so that the shadow is less prevalent near the fold. Right now, it just looks like there's a triangle hovering over the corner, but with a fade in there, it'd look more 3D-esque. Other than that, I like how it looks! 8.2/10 Quote I am not a mechanism, I am part of the resistance; I am an organism, an animal, a creature, I am a beast. ~ Becoming the Archetype
Myrddin
Both Yata is right about the affiliation, and Extra right about Merlin from Arthurian legend. See, my name inspires education CMD I do and that's an excellent suggestion. There was always something niggling me about that shadow but couldn't put my finger on it so I shall try that tomorrow or hopefully tonight with any luck. Thanks again.
