New tool : Arrows

Ha...ha...this has to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while on these forums.

You actually added a tool, but now the toolbar is off and left with a vacant space.

The arrow concept is great, but why not just create one using 3 lines?

Good tool anyhow.

Arrows can be drawn in GDI+ just by setting properties of the Pen object that is used to draw the GraphicsPath object. No need for special math :)

We don't have the ability to draw arrows yet because we don't have a widget for configuring the GDI+ Pen's properties beyond specifying its size. We might do this once we have a better toolbar system in place (after we migrate to .NET 2.0).

SOS and Neil, the ability to draw arrows is actually pretty useful. I've needed this on several occasions where I've taken a screenshot and needed to type text and then have an arrow pointing to what I'm annotating.

True, it was my initial reaction when I saw the picture though, I thought "there is just an empty space and no extra tool?!"

I would just make an arrow with 3 lines, but a custom tool wouldn't be that bad.

Also, Neil that happy face idea is crazy  ha..ha..good stuff.

(Wouldn't that make Paint.NET stand out from the average image editor application  )

I could see the comments on that one...

I wasn't saying the arrow idea was a bad one. I think it would be somewhat useful to some people. Instead of a happy face tool (I hope you know that I was being sarcastic) I would love a TRIANGLE TOOL, that would be useful.

There's already a happy face tool, in a way :)

Start up the Text Tool and instead of typing some text, press Alt+1, or Alt+2.

(That's using the standard Windows input scheme for typing extended characters, btw -- we didn't write that functionality ourselves. Character codes 1 and 2 just happen to be smiley faces in many fonts)

Make sure you're using the 1 and 2 keys on the number pad. The 1 and 2 keys across the top of the keyboard don't work. They have different Character Codes from the ones on the keypad.
