In "Other" I put in Paint.NET :P

EDIT: Now that I actually finished it, I can say that I put Paint.NET in all of the "Other" boxes :P

I also gave GIMP the wost possible rating for everything :D

You're supposed to answer the questions objectively. This is a study, not a popularity contest.

But it did crash on me and finding stuff is impossible...

If you had that many legitimate problems with The GIMP that you feel it deserved the rating you gave it, than I apologize for my objection.

My problem with your original post was the attitude of bragging you seemed to have.

Trust me: the OpenSource graphics community needs The GIMP. It's all I've used professionally (for raster-based editing) for over two years, and there's no way I'd have my current job were it not for The GIMP. It's clumsy, yes, but so is PhotoShop to a new user. The GIMP takes a bloody potato-load of bloody potato from some people who seem to think that the world would be better without The GIMP, as if one less free graphics option is somehow a good thing for the graphics community, and it doesn't deserve it.

I'm not saying that telling people about PDN is bad. I've referred several people to it myself. Most people have little desire to take the time necessary to learn The GIMP's interface, and really, when it comes down to it, they don't need a program that big. But some people need editable Layer masks, vector paths, or independent channel editing, and those people need something more than PDN at this time.

Don't get me wrong: I love PDN. I like working in it, and I like that it takes about 1/8th the time to start-up. I wouldn't be here if I didn't. But the great thing about freeware is that it's free! Downloading and using something other than PDN doesn't mean that you're against PDN, though some act as if that's the case. I'm not asking that you stop loving PDN, I'd just like it if you'd stop fighting against the other options out there. :)

Sorry about that. I ended up saying a deal more than I intended when I started typing. Perhaps flachlandtapir can use something in there for their paper, despite the fact that the language style used is somewhat less than scholarly. If not, then I guess it's just a rant... v_v
