Graphics Battles, anyone heard of them? You challenge someone to a Graphics Battle and you both create a signature to the desired theme, e.g. the theme could be something like starlight or shadows etc. A render can be supplied and has to be used in the signature. When you win, you get graphics points. Opinions?

Thanks, Verac.

Opinion: this goes in the Overflow.

v An excellent open–source strategy game—highly recommended.

I have seen and participated in a couple SOTW (sig of the week), basically you select a theme and set a deadline then at the end take votes. I was actually thinking about starting one here recently but never got around to it.

I think it should be a monthly/bi-monthly contest instead of a "Graphics Battle". That way you have more themes to work with (like modifying cars or creating an artificial tree).

EDIT:

You can also base competitions on one single image. Like feathering an image that needs anitaliasing or cutting out an object and putting it into a transparent background. Oooh! Or coloring a black and white image!

well we could do a sotm (sig of the month) and a pmc (photo minipulation contest) aswell. Then we open another thread and take suggestions from people as to what the theme should be.
