WitsEnd
Every time I tried to install paintdotnet the program wanted to install dotNET 4.5.2 even though I have it already. It always failed, so I tried to repair it using files on my computer and got past that problem but then it threw this exception (see attachment). Please tell me how to fix this. Rick Brewster
Your .NET installation is probably corrupt or broken somehow. Try repairing it. WitsEnd
Every time I tried to install paintdotnet the program wanted to install dotNET 4.5.2 even though I have it already. My poor explanation should have indicated that what I tried, and succeeded, to repair was the .Net installation. The exception came after that. WitsEnd
Since nobody seems to have an answer for me, I will choose the last resort of using a disk backup I had previously saved and forego paint.net installation.
skullbonz
At your wits end already? Try shutting off AVG antivirus before installing. Quote http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21233-skullbonz-art-gallery
WitsEnd
Thanks, but that was the very first thing I tried coupled with the "run as administrator" trick even though I'm the only one using the computer.
Rick Brewster
The exception says that it can't load IReadOnlyCollection, which is a core interface defined by .NET 4.5: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh881542(v=vs.110).aspx If that can't be found, it indicates something is broken with your .NET installation. You say you already tried repairing it, but clearly something is still broken with .NET itself. WitsEnd
I dropped back 1 and installed dotNET 4.5.1 and that seems to have fixed the problem. Go figure.
Rick Brewster
That's good news I recommend installing .NET 4.6. The next update to Paint.NET will be using .NET 4.6 so you'll save some time if you let that install while you're doing something else (as opposed to having to wait for it when the next Paint.NET update arrives). It's probably not the version of .NET that matters here. Going to a different version probably just forced the installer to be more thorough. Djisves
At your wits end already? Try shutting off AVG antivirus before installing. AVG does not interfere with the Paint.NET installation in any shape or form.
