Repton Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I've been fiddling around with it and I can't seem to get a outlined paint dot on Paint.NET 4.0.6 Quote
Ego Eram Reputo Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Can you show us what you're trying to create? A paint splatter or an outline made up of dots? Repton Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 I'm trying to just make a outlined dot for a hurricane track I'm making but I keep getting a filled in dot. Quote
Eli Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Hello Repton, If you want to make a solid outline around an object you may use the Outline Object effect. For this to work, the object has to have a transparent background. If you want to make a solid outline inside a selection you can use BoltBait's Outline Selection effect or TR's Quick Outline. They will give you different results. I do not know how to make an outline with dots or dashes. Quote

Eli Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 So far, the only way I know to add dots or dashes (or other shapes) inside a selection is using TR's Paste Frame effect. Quote
Ego Eram Reputo Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Shapes can be drawn with dotted/dashed borders. 1. Activate the Shapes tool. 2. Select the Shape from the drop down list. 3. Select the Outline option (no fill). 4. Choose your Brush Width. 5. Set the Style to Dotted! 6. Drag out the Shape - it comes with a dotted border. If you want to add texture to the inside of the Shape, set the Fill to one of the preset options. Thom Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I think what you are looking for is something like the "Paths" tool in GIMP. Does Paint.Net have anything like that? Quote
pdnnoob Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 There is not a built-in paths tool, but midora is working on a plugin for that (see this thread). As EER pointed out, though, for simple applications like this one, there are other ways to get the job done. Like drawing an outlined dot! racerx Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Yep but between each dot. I have no clue what that reply means. Experiment with the line fill mode. Quote
