pdnnoob
The selection options already exist in the "edit" menu For your other suggestion, it sounds like you are asking for the movement of selected pixels to blend the selection with the original image. Generally, that's not how professional photo-editing software works and would be considered "unexpected behavior," which just causes confusion and complaints. There exists a tool for that already, too. See the documentation for information on how to use layers. Ego Eram Reputo
Select by color - use the Magic Wand tool with a low Tolerance http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/MagicWand.html Inverse selection - either use the Invert selection mode in the toolbar (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ShapeSelectionTools.html), or make a selection and invert it with Ctrl + Shift + I Select none (aka Deselect) - To deselect via the keyboard, press Enter or Ctrl + D. To deselect using the mouse cursor, click the Edit → Deselect menu item or the Deselect icon in the Tool Bar. Clicking anywhere off-canvas with one of the Selection Tools active will also deselect an active selection. Select All - Ctrl + A or Edit > Select All http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/EditMenu.html RE: moving visible selections - read this under the heading The Active Layer http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WorkingWithLayers.html. You're only ever move something on the active layer.
