Flaming/fire effects help

There are two plugins which will do this.  Install either of these:

Tom Jackson's Fire

BoltBait's Flames

Setup:

1. Create a new image.

2. Fill the layer with black.

3. Use the text tool to render a large white text of your choice on the black background.

4. Blur the text using Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur.  You want to blur the edges, but not so much as to lose the overall shape of the characters.

5. Run Effects > Distort > Dents at these settings

6. Run whichever Fire plugin you installed & play with the settings.

Once you get the hang of it - combining several layers of flame-text will enhance the effect (here I used blend = Screen and opacity of 184 on the upper of two flamed layers).

If you keep running the Dents Effect with some different settings you can come up with some very realistic flames.

Here's a manual method: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12180-how-to-start-a-fire-with-paintnet/

Hi Thunderrooster,

I am not too sure what you are referring to with regard to blurring the edges, although it sounds as though you may want to use the smudge tool.

Please refer to my "Burning Font" tutorial below which shows how it is utilised:

Cheers,

Correct, there is no blur brush.  Instead use the built-in effect  Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur (there are other blurs in this sub menu which you could try).
