lars-sh Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Just happened: I saved a PNG file of size 155px * 198px and with transparent parts and the result is an image with way too high file size (1.3MB, see [...] ). When replacing that transparency with any color its size is as planned (12KB, see [...] ). I'm using Paint.NET 4.0.4, just checked Paint.NET 4.0.3 and got the same problem. Am not sure, if this is a real bug or my fault, just tell me. Edited December 8, 2014 by lars-sh Quote Best regards,Lars Knickrehm
midora Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 For some reason the second file contains a quite large ICC. Maybe you imported the file from an other source. Paint.NET does not remove all old Metadata. So Paint.NET keeps the ICC if you are saving as 32bit PNG. Rick may know why there is a difference in behaviour between 32bit and 24bit. Select all, copy, paste to a new image, save as png (auto or 32 bit) will remove the ICC and other chunks not used by Paint.NET. The resulting size will be 10.9KB. 3 Quote
