witness
I would like to remove people from one photo and past them into a different photo. Is this possible? Is it hard to do? And just so you know it is my own photo. I'm not trying to do anything to anybody else. thanks!!
Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Hello. There is this simple cutting out images tutorial :http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/13796-cutting-out-images/ And there is a mini tutorial called "Silhouettes and Quick Image Cut-Out", found here :http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/28305-mini-tuts/?p=409110 Once your object (person) is cutout you can copy it and then paste it onto a new layer in your other image. Remember, keeping things on separate layers is important, and saving in .pdn format will keep your layers. Save to a png or jpeg format after your project is done. If you are new to paint.net and get stuck on a step, you can learn paint.net basics here :http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ToolsWindow.html Edited November 5, 2014 by Cc4FuzzyHuggles Quote *~ Cc4FuzzyHuggles Gallery ~*
Pixey
Hi @Witness and Welcome. There also is a YouTube video that may be of assistance to you. witness
That was fast. I thank both of you for the reply. You can see that I'm rather new here. I have not looked at all the links you sent but basically it looks like I need to "free hand" trace around the person with either the pencil or the eraser. Is that right? My hands are not real steady, especially with a mouse.
Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Free hand? Nope, the line/curve tool can be your best friend. Edited November 5, 2014 by Cc4FuzzyHuggles Quote *~ Cc4FuzzyHuggles Gallery ~*
witness
I'm talking about "tracing" around my body and around my wife's face and hair. Is there a tool for that?
Cc4FuzzyHuggles
The line/curve tool is the best tool for tracing if free hand is too hard. As for hair, there isn't a very good solution for that yet. However, with the link to the mini tutorials, I have samples of using the grim color reaper plugin and cut color plugin for working with hair. I my self am currently trying to learn masking (making alpha masks), which should help with cutting out complex things, like hair or furry animals. But since I'm in the middle of still learning how to go about masking, I can't explain much with that at this time. skullbonz
You could use this plugin to cut the person or object out of a picture; http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26966-trs-alpha-cutter-v304-april-7th-2014/ To clean the edges you could use the Feather plugin or TR's EFX plugin. Ishi
Since I've done this many times, I'm already doing fine with tracing around the body using only the eraser. For parts that are tricky to trace like the hair, I would suggest using a small eraser size with low hardness setting of course if you are using PDN 4. The soft eraser would minimize the jaggedness around the traced portion. Also keep in mind that plugins such as AA's Assistant and Feather under the Effects>>Object are quite good in eliminating the jaggedness at the sides as well if you have already pasted your traced-out section in a new transparent layer. But AA's Assistant could dissolve the little details at the sides as well, like hair.
Pixey
@Shumi31's video shows the pen tool being used in PS. There is a similar tool that can be used in Paint.net called TR's Alpha Cutter: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26966-trs-alpha-cutter-v304-april-7th-2014/ Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
